I never appreciated when they tried to make Wonder Woman Superman's equal in strength. LOL, do not know how many times they sparred. Also, always...always, HATED those Flash vs. Superman races...FLASH should be faster than Superman, otherwise, what is the point of having the Flash character, if he has an equal or a better at speed??

I never appreciated when they tried to make Wonder Woman Superman's equal in strength. Since Wonder Woman was formed by a kind of magic, shouldn't she be able to wipe the floor with Supes?

I know one battle that was fairly epic ... Wonder Woman #219Intense, visually graphic and very action oriented indeed and one of the better stories that I read ...

I just never liked it when DC started putting WW on a power level as Supes, wasn't an issue pre-crisis. I look at it this way, WW needs her bracelets to deflect bullets whereas Supes whole body is bulletproof, bomb proof, etc. That facts alone cannot possibly make her as strong. I always liked the fact that it was a given that Superman was the strongest DC superhero, just like the Hulk is the strongest over at Marvel, always been established that the Thing, Thor are not as strong as Hulk.

This should answer the question why she used her bracelets to block the bullets.

I'm the opposite from bry214: I hate the whole Marvel-handbook attitude of ranking all the characters in some quantified, carved-in-stone rating system of so-and-so is stronger (or smarter, or faster, etc) than so-and-so. I think all that is best left as a much more vague picture - yeah, we know that the Hulk is stronger than Spider-Man, who's stronger than Captain America, who's stronger than Daredevil, but once you get to a certain level, it's best left open: so for me, Marvel's Hulk, Thor, Hercules, etc would all be more or less on a par.
Also, I dislike the way superhero comics handles this whole "strongest one there is" idea: it feeds into the worst aspects of the genre, emphasizing the power-fantasy above very other consideration. So for me, it's a great idea to make it clear that WW and a few, not too many, other heavyweights are more or less as strong as Superman. I don't know the DCU all that well but I imagine this exclusive group might also include Captain Marvel, Black Adam, I think i read somewhere that the Martian Manhunter is up there?. Of course Orion and Barda, insofar as they are DCU characters, ... villains like Kalibak, Solomon Grundy,

Looking for a comprehensive hit-list. Garcia-Lopez is great, but there,s something about this image that I've never liked - I think it's WW's stance: she looks more like a woman in some 40s movie saying "I'll claw your eyes out" than a mythic warrior. I hope the rest of the fight was better than this panel would suggest.

At the level what's the point? It's more of a non-issue in brute strength. However, there is still something to be said for their battles against each other...brain power of what would be the best moves, dexterity and agility, staying power and Constitution, etc. So, yes I do like sparring between them but for different reasons other than who is the strongest, fastest, smartest. I like them to see who can use their entirety to win, not just one feature alone.

the question is, or shouldbe, how many times did they spar philosophically? since the philosophy of heroes/villains leads to their actions, or inaction.
