It's a ways off yet, but the guest list is shaping up nicely. They have a Star Trek reunion of sorts with William Shatner, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols and Bobby Clark(the guy who played the Gorn and several other creatures). I'm more excited to see Colin Baker of Doctor Who fame though, as he's funny as hell at these kind of shows. As for artists so far I'm interested in Jim Steranko, Herb Trimpe, Eric Talbot, Tom Smith and Michael Dooney(who I missed in Boston) Not a huge con by any means but I've been in years past and had a good time, and it's pretty darn cheap too! www.ricomiccon.com/

Are Shatner and Takai getting along these days, or is this going to be one of those awkward convention panels that will end up being the darling of youtube for a week?

Hard to say, I read George wants to be friends so we'll see.
An interesting tidbit that I just gleaned from facebook, Doug Moench has "liked" the RI Comicon page, perhaps he's mulling over an appearance?

Rhode Island Comic Con is less than a month away.
For those who haven't been before, the show is in Providence on Nov. 1-2, and has been getting pretty darn big in recent years. They have a really impressive lineup of both artists and media guests this year.
Artists:
Jim Steranko Neal Adams Joe Sinnott Herb Trimpe Rich Buckler Billy Tucci Jim Calafiore Pat Broderick Mark McKenna Allen Bellman etc.
Media Guests:
William Shatner George Takei Nichelle Nichols Walter Koenig
Karen Allen John Rhys-Davies Eliza Dushku Colin Baker Michael Biehn Lou Ferrigno Ray Park Peter Mayhew Mick Foley
and a bunch of TV people

I keep hoping for more artists to be added as so far I've seen many of the ones listed fairly recently but I'll probably be going.

It's a really nice list of big names, but they are all people I have seen before. I'll probably go, but I may miss it depending on finances.

There are a few I would like to see that aren't huge names, like Tom Smith(I loved his work on Dr. Who), Michael Dooney,Eric Talbot and Ian Nichols...and although I usually don't go in for the media stuff I'd love to see all those cast members from Star Trek TOS and who wouldn't want to meet Chewbacca?

Damn, that's crazy. I still kinda wish I had gone to see all the greats from Star Trek, but that definitely sounds like it was way too crowded for my liking.

I decided at the last minute not to go. I don't have much budget left after attending three shows already this year, and I had pretty much already met all the creators on the guest list I was interested in. I think the only person there who I own a comic by and haven't met yet is Billy Tucci, and he's not exactly a big draw for me. So I skipped out.
