Because this story takes place before Usagi learns that Jei is still alive, I suppose you could argue that it's precognitive, but it's a lot simpler to see it as PTSD from his earlier encounters. But why is Tomoe there? Are she and Jei the ones who bring up the strongest emotions in Usagi? Interesting to note that, just as in waking life, Dream Usagi and Dream Tomoe fight to a draw.
Chizu still has feelings for Usagi; he doesn't notice because he's delirious. She spends a lot of time ministering to him while he's dreaming of Tomoe (after a fashion).

I noticed in Senso but I think this is it's first appearance, the odd angle of Jei's neck is sported here by possessed Usagi and then later in Senso but not before.

What a scary cover. Haven't we all had those terrifyingly horrific fever dreams acting as premonitions attempting to warn or speak to us? Of course Usagi's greatest fear would be in becoming. A remorseless killing machine as Jei the demon. It speaks to his state of mind that poison forces him to confront that he turned away from one friend/woman only to help another and end up suffering in doing so.
That he undoubtedly saved Chizu in coming across her in the forest should strengthen Usagi's knowing he did the right thing for leaving Mayumi, he instead is haunted with poisonous fever dreams of Tomoe, whom he truly loves and wants but cannot be with.
Dang, dreams surely cut through the crap and go straight to the truth dont they?
