So having won the Omega Men #3 and Kirby Hunger Dogs promo poster in a recnet Lonestar auction, I added a couple of more books to the order, including two of the Darwyn Cooke DC variant covers from a couple years back... Supergirl with Streaky and Comet (with trade dress...) and Batman and Robin 37... both for under $2. Each will be going up in the art gallery once I finish the comic room. -M

I hit a jack-pot last week with first 6 volumes of Mac Coy. If you are a western lover it's a real treat.
In many respects Gourmelen is Charlier 2.0, but also different. It's stunning just how deviant some of the characters are. Huge influence by Leone as well. If you need your Leone-fix every once in awhile - high recommendation on my behalf.
2 total blind purchases - Black Eyed Kids 1 and Grass Kings 1.
some Mac Coy for ya all...

I was a huge fan of Alexis McCoy when I first saw the series in the Lucky Luke magazine in the '70s. Great art (almost photorealistic at times, despite all the tiny lines) and very engaging, humorous stories. It was pretty cool to see McCoy as a Confederate soldier at the beginning. It was rather uncommon in those days to have the good guy be anything but a Union soldier.

It was rather uncommon in those days to have the good guy be anything but a Union soldier. Now I am reading it for the first time in chronological order - the transition from one episode to another is really well done. I like how little influence Mac Coy has on overall events, and the large cast of characters. He is fighting tooth and nails for whatever his objectives are, but in a grand scheme of things he is merely a peon. Another thing, and that plagues fiction (of any form) is that the antagonists are never too easy to defeat - yet at the same time they are not a result of writer's elaborate rationalizing - they have their own motives (and flaws). And they actually execute their plans, instead of twirling their eyebrows and mustashes in endless cycles (with just more menacing facial expression in every iteration).

Also besides the Action Comics Rebirth trade paperback I got in the mail the other day, I did get some still new comics
Walking Dead 167 Regression # 1. I need to go back to the comic book shop sometime to get the other issues before someone else buys them up. Power of the Dark Crystal # 8. I still need to get issues 6 and 7 but the comic shop that I went to they dont have any more copies of issue 6

Never heard of it, but there's lots of international stuff I don't know about. Looks very good ! It does, and believe me it's even better in paper. And even better in new edition. Palasios detailed art shines on snow-white background/paper, of this reprinted edition. High quality paper, which was not used for the original edition/early reprints. Yes, you are not the only one. Awhile back I decided to learn French or Spanish to work around that problem. Opted for Spanish and it pays off big time. Nice thing about Spanish is that all but trivial French-Belgium comics are printed in Spain and you can read of course Spanish, Argentinian and Mexican books.

That does sound cool. Anything in English? You have finally a proper English release of Mercenary, from this month actually. There were some before but the text was somewhat shortened and there were issues with colors. www.amazon.com/MERCENARY-Definitive-Editions-Vol-Sacred/dp/1681121247That's a type of comic you read in 15 minutes but you can look at it for hours.

Picked up Vol. 3 and 4 of Brandon Graham's Prophet at Half Price Books as part of their coupon sale... THis series is just sheer eye candy, the art is just gonzo, but it's a damn good sci-fi series as well (if someone didn't tell you it was the descendant of a Rob Liefeld series, you would never know). Some sample art from the series... -M
