Batman #369Cut and Paste Operation Begins ... Words after the Book is taken from the Internet
Alfred and his daughter Julia find their subplot taking centre stage in the story by Moench, Newton and Alcala in Batman 369 (March 1984). Alfred and Julia Remarque are in Montreal, tracking down leads on the death of Jacques Remarque, the man who raised Julia after the death of her mother, Mademoiselle Marie, the French resistance fighter. Julia believes that Jacques was murdered, and when someone starts shooting at them, it looks like she was right. Other continuing plot thread are pushed to the side for this story, which is largely a battle between Deadshot, who has been hired to kill Alfred and Julia, and Batman, who ha followed them to Montreal. Alfred and Julia uncover information that Jacques was hunting for stolen Nazi art. Julia believes that whoever is after them (unlike the reader, she has not seen Deadshot) also killed Jacques, and arms herself, intending to kill him. The art is beautiful, and the story is tense and gripping. Deadshot’s origin is retold by Batman, but the character shows a bit more self-doubt than usual. Deadshot had last appeared in the Boss Thorne story a couple of years ago. The story has a great cliffhanger, as Deadshot informs them that he was hired to kill them by the supposedly dead Jacques. The story concludes in the net issue of Detective. From MeI did not read that Detective Comics Issue and I don't know what it is. Sorry Everyone. I love this story and it was full of action and suspense and high drama too. It was a nail-biting issue and it's the only story that I read of Deadshot.

Dear Members and Guests,
I have 20 left to go and I've been thinking that I'm trying to do the best I can to entertain you and well give my own perspective of the Villains that I selected and with Water Polo, Running Two Clubs, and among other things from this point on I'll be concentrating on this until I try to get it done hopefully in the next 45 days or so.
I will start hopefully on Monday with Number 20 and I'm going to try to do 2 a week and that's not going to be very easy to complete this in 45 days and after that I'll be very busy with the things that I already told you.
That's all I have for now.

Black Mask and Deadshot I pretty much know from various animated features or shows. I can't recall any specifics as far as comics for either to judge them on those.
If anything this thread has made me realize is how many Batman villains I am either not familiar with at all or just very little. Deadshot I best know from Legends and Suicide Squad. I didn't realize he was condsidered a Batman villain. At least that last thought came to me before I hit "create post". :-)

BTW, about four months ago I look at that link that Ish provided for us to see to formulate my list of Villains and that list was very helpful in creating this thread as you all know about. That list was very valuable list and it's took me almost a month to create my list of 50 Villains and place them in order that I see fit. Thanks Ish for providing that link.

#20 Black Spider / Eric NeedhamFirst Appearance: Detective Comics #463 One of the toughest and single-minded villain that Batman ever faced and pretty much match ability to ability of Batman and I was surprised to see him in Neil Gaiman's Sandman Novel and I was even more puzzled why he's in it dating Ltya Hall and I was very disappointed in Neil did not offer any explanation of why he's was in that novel. Gaiman should offer me and readers like us an explanation of his appearance. Anyway, I just find him brutal, efficient, and why he goes about his business is always at odds with Batman because he kills people that are suspected dealing with drugs and became a vigilante that won't stay no for an answer. He wanted Batman to become his ally and with that alone makes him even more madder than ever and that's puts him on the edge so it's speaks. His methods is not acceptable to Batman and that's why they have these battles and in constant wits with each other and that's why I consider him quite deadly. He kills people without thinking about who he dealing with and that's lead to one example that I want to share with you. Before he became the Black Spider, he was desperate for more monies and went to a liquor store and killed the owner and the owner happen to be his own Father and that's when the troubles began. He didn't think straight after that incident. He is so unpredictable. That's why he's ranked at #20, and so vastly underrated as a villain. Very few people don't even talk about him and I even asked 20 members at the store that I go to and 40 percent of them don't know who is the Black Spider is. Seriously Members. I will be sharing a bit more and I need to take some time understanding him and hopefully be done by tomorrow. On a Personal NoteAbout my Water Polo, I've received an e-mail from my Coach that Water Polo won't start until mid-March over the issue of Pool Availability and I should be done by mid-March so that I can take my time wrapping up this countdown of my 50 Batman Villains.

More on the Black SpiderBlack SpiderAll Cut and Paste OperationWe’re almost done; here we are at day 24 with just 4 days left. Tonight I’m going to do another villain. Let me introduce you to DC Comics Black Spider. Now there have been few characters in the DC universes, but I’m going to be talk about the very first one. The Black Spider real name Eric Needham first appeared in Detective Comics Issue 463 (September 1976). At a young age Eric Needham would become addicted to heroin. Desperate to find the money his next fix he would turn to a life crime. Eric started off small, with petty muggings. Eric would find himself in trouble with the law after nearly killing an elderly woman. Because he was a minor he would only service three years. Upon leaving jail he would soon marry his childhood friend Linda Morrel. Eric and Linda would soon be blessed with a son Michael. But life as a father and husband were no match to his addiction. Realizing that there wasn’t enough cold hard cash in muggings; he would soon graduate to armed robbery. On his first attempt, Eric would rob a liquor store. During the robbery a customer would attempt to tackle him. Eric crashing from withdrawal shot and killed the man in cold blood. By the time Eric realized what he had done it was too late. He was shocked to see the life he just ended belong to his father. Eric would find himself locked up again. While on the inside Eric would use this time to kick his habit out of remorse for what he had done. As soon as he was released he would find a new purpose in life. In memory of his father he would don a costume and would become a one man war on drugs. Calling himself the Black Spider, he would set out on the streets killing anyone suspected of dealing drugs in Gotham city. While on his mission to clean the streets he would meet Hanniball Hardwicke, a man who wanted to help him on his way, he would become the Spider’s financial backer supplying him with equipment and missions. Little did the Spider know that Hanniball was really a drug lord, who was just using him to clear out the competition. Once The Black Spider had dealt with all of Hanniball’s competition, Hanniball attempted to kill the Spider but he would escape. This act puts Hanniball on top of The Spider’s to do list. He tracks down Hanniball and has him in his cross hair when he crosses paths with the Gotham’s Dark Knight, who intervenes. He tried to explain to Batman that he was trying to be like him bring scum to justice, by any means necessary. Of course Batman having a no kill policy, his would have him at odds with the caped crusader. The two would battle, in the end Batman would win and save Hannibal sending him to jail and the Spider would escape. Throughout his career the Black Spider would switch from vigilante to costumed criminal. He would soon see batman as his enemy. His productive career had him taking on some of the cities’ badass drug cartels. He was having quite the winning streak cleaning up the streets, until tragedy would strike. He would come home one day to find his wife and son dead, murder by a drug lord by the name of Bret Yale who had discovered his true identity. Linda was given a fatal dose of heroin from Yale’s men. His son Michael was in wrong place at the wrong time. He wakes up hungry and goes into kitchen where he would tragically sprinkle cereal with what he thought was sugar but was really his mom’s secret stash of heroin. With nothing left to lose, he would go on one last hunt to take down the scum who killed his family. He tracked down Yale to his headquarters, where he went in with guns blazing. Even though the Spider was able to take down most of his man, he would be gunned down in hail of bullets. Critically wounded, the remaining henchman drags him in front of Yale, who was about to kill with the one thing he fought so hard to destroy, heroin. Batman would swing in just in time to stop Yale from delivering a lethal shot of heroin. After taking down all of Yale’s men, Batman would turn his sights on Yale, but before Batman could apprehend Yale, Batman would be pushed out a window by the Black Spider. Batman would survive the fall by grappling to a nearby flag pole. Yale shocked by the Black Spider’s actions would turn to fear when The Spider lifts up the shirt of his costume exposing the plastic explosives that he had strapped to himself. Batman could do nothing but watch in silence as the headquarters explodes, killing everyone inside. Even though The Black Spider was now dead and sent to hell for all his wrong doing, this would not be the last time we see him. In the Sandman comic’s book series, it seems that the Spider was one of the souls that escaped hell when Lucifer abdicated his throne.

New 52 Black SpiderAfter DC New 52, the Black Spider is still around fight the good fight, but now instead of fight targeting drug lords, he battles super-powered criminals. His new origin has yet to be reviled as to why he hates super-powered criminals. He is last seen as a member of Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad, being forced to work side by side with criminal scum, even though in the New 52 he is not a criminal himself. Even though he has no real superpowers The Black Spider is a skilled fighter and marksman. He as a full arsenal and his figure tips, but his weapon of choice is a retractable pistol attached to the wrists of his gloves. Well I hope I made you want to read up on the Black Spider, if so run down to your local comic book shop and pick up Suicide Squad Vol. 3 issues 0 – 16. From MeIn the New 52 - The Black Spider was different and more of the same (Eric Needham) and was improperly used in that community and I was sadden to see that he was locked away by both Amanda Waller and the Younger Waller and that alone was wrong for DC Comics to do that because I like him being a double agent working with Regulus of the terrorist group Basilisk. His character was poorly used at the time of the DC Comics New 52 of which I find most of it utterly stupid and disgusting and that's when I stopped reading DC Comics altogether. I will start on Number 19 sometimes on Monday as an introductory post and from that point on ... smooth sailing for me and all of these villains are heavy hitters and one of the most deadliest by design. Number 19 is next.

Two Face, Tommy Lee Jones 1995 Batman ForeverTommy Lee Jones was sensational in this role and I felt he was star of this movie until Jim Carrey showed up and I felt that Jim did the best that he could but in my mind was not what I expected to. But, Tommy Lee Jones was really turned up the heat in this role and I felt that's the Producer and the Director felt that he should die in a timely event only to be witnessed by Robin who played by Chris O'Donnell of NCIS Los Angeles fame. I felt that he was perfect in the part and the duality of his character shown through and his molls played by Sugar (Drew Barrymore) and Spice (Debi Mazar) was excellent backup characters that fits the bill just beautifully. This enhanced his persona a quite bit and what they did in their short time in films was nothing short of brilliance. His costume was fantastic and very colorful. He was superbly gifted and is a veteran of many films and I felt that he kind of gotten a beef with Jim Carrey and that's why on the set of Batman Forever - he and Jim did not get along at all. That's why they were rivals and Jim was on the upswing and Tommy was an established actor that's Jim didn't care for at all. That's why I gave Tommy a higher grade than Jim. Two Face, Aaron Eckhart 2008, The Dark KnightI felt that Aaron was a okay pick to play Two Face in this totally epic film of which I had a hard time enjoying it in the first time that I seen it and I was deeply troubled by the Joker and the horrible makeup job on Heath Ledger who played the Joker. I find this movie hard to swallow and does not fit any of my criteria of the character itself and being hard of hearing - I couldn't quite understand a word that he said in that film. I was so disappointed in his performance and even more disappointed in the film in general of which it had more violence than it's possibly could. I just had a hard time understanding this film and it's took me 3 viewing to fully understand it and I haven't seen it for 7 years and care less about it. Sorry about the negative reviews about the Dark Knight; but it was a good film all around but I felt it was too dark and moody and I have difficulty accepting it. Grade for Tommy Lee Jones - A Grade for Aaron Eckhart - C

Billy Dee Williams Batman 1989Batman 1989 Finale He certaintly made it very dramatic at the end of this movie that starred Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson who had top billing in this iconic movie. I thought he did a good job and his role was pretty limited in it and that's pretty much sums up in that movie and I felt it was okay by many moviegoers that attended it. I loved this oversized poster in this movie! ... So Memorable!By that time, I wasn't a Billy Dee Williams Fan despite having him in Star Wars and all that; and I only saw him in a limited capacity and can't effectively grade him properly in this movie. Batman 1989 is basically is all about the The Joker and he made it very memorable and I consider him one of the best actors to play him and still do. I have no beef against Billy Dee Williams and knowing all that - that this movie had a lots of great secondary actors and actresses that did their part in making it one of the better superhero films at the time it was made. I still watch this film on an occasional basis and loved the melodramatic scenes and music score. It was a ground-breaking effort and I have seen it on the big screen three times before it was taken away because I felt that Keaton did a good job in this film. Billy Dee Williams did too and knowing that his role as District Attorney Harvey Dent was spot on and I have to say this that he really put the role down pat. By time, I was finished with this movie - I was pleasantly surprised by his performance and I gave him a Solid B for his role as Harvey Dent.

More Two FaceThe MO of Two-Face, summed up by Gerry Conway and Don Newton in one single panel (from Batman #346, April 1982). This makes Two Face so unpredictable and dangerous and this panel says it all. I read Batman 346 and I consider it one of Gerry Conway better works and he Don Newton did a great job together. I read several of Two-Face books and I consider him a fascinating character to write for and it's very challenging one to write because of character with two personalities that uses a coin to decide your ultimate fate and that's alone makes him quite deadly by design. Anyway, he is a fascinating character and I was so sad that he did not make an appearance in Batman's Adam West Series because the character itself was too violent to be shown on television and instead did a character by the name of False Face instead. Here's an link that has all the history of Two Face and it's loaded with information about him and Detective Comics #66 of which has the origin story of Two-Face in it. I strongly advise everyone to visit it and packed with information regarding this complicated character by the name of Two Face. Two Face Link I'm moving onto Number 18 next.
