Hopefully, Doom Patrol #4 and Astro City #41 will finally show up. I'm looking forward to the latest issue of the Master Race as well, but I don't think Doom Patrol or Astro City are coming out today as i didn't see them on Midtown's site, although as Dizzy pointed out I'm prone to missing things as I write up these intros so I could be wrong.

Star Wars #26 Written by Jason Aaron Art by Salvador Larroca Colored by Edgar Delgado Summary: As R2 races off to save C3P0 from the clutches of Darth Vader, disabling Luke's X-Wing in the process, Luke turns to Kenobi's journal and uncovers a recounting of a mission by Yoda. Plot: While the capture and rescue of Threepio isn't the most compelling of stories I still find myself a little cheated by what feels like filler. That isn't to say the Yoda story isn't without merit, but I feel like it would perhaps be served better as its own stand alone rather than an interlude and the same goes for R2s rescue story, what could have been a quick, fun slap stick one shot will now be stretched over two or more issues to accommodate the Yoda story. Art: Larroca's Yoda is fantastic, I loved the facial expressions he was able to convey and although I'm not a fan of the split story I look forward to seeing more of Yoda atleast visually.
Grade:7/10

Titans #6: The Return of Wally West comes to a conclusion this issue. Although I believe this story dragged on way too long and would've been better suited for the Flash comic, I very much enjoyed this issue. Parts of it were cheesy--but that has always been part of the Titans charm since 1964. What struck me about this arc was the emphasis on the friendship the Titans share ( it does seem forced with this version of the classic characters but I believe I will enjoy learning more of the revised past they share) and how that friendship is essential to Wally's story. The last panel of the story was a bit of a surprise! 6/10

Wonder Woman #13: Steve Trevor takes the spotlight after last issues revelation about Paradise Island. WW is in some sort of shock and pretty much useless when Veronica Cale sets a new version of a golden age villainess on WW. I liked the story this issue. It was nice seeing Steve as being very capable and taking control of the situation when WW could not. The final page also gives us a glimpse of another important WW character from the past. Greg Rucka has not missed a beat so far in the new series, throwing long time fans treat after treat. Not quite on board with the artist this issue. Not sure if this was a fill in or a new regular artist, but I'm used to Liam Sharp's moody and lush art and while the art is competent, it doesn't convey the same uniqueness as Sharp. 8/10

Action 970: In this issue, we see Lex Luthor confronted by L'call and crew about what they consider to be Luthor's future. Superman shows up to rescue Luthor and is faced with a moral dilemma. We learn more about L'call's past as well in this fast paced story. There's a quick funny scene with Jon as well as a classic-feeling scene with Lois, the mysterious Clark Kent, and Perry White. The art was great with illustrations of the alien landscape, L'Call and crew, and Superman looks....super (for lack of a better word!) I like Zircher's version of Luthor's armor. 8/10

(it's a $10 book) I picked up a copy today at my lcs (it was the last one they had in stock) but haven't had a chance to read any of it yet. My wife saw it and I may have to wait until she is done reading it to dive into it. -M

Supergirl: Being Super #1 Written by Mariko Tamaki Penciled by Joelle Jones Inked by Sandu Florea Colored by Kelly Fitzpatrick Summary: Join us here for a day in the life of your average, ordinary, middle American, teenage girl...who just happens to be gifted with superhuman powers due to her kryptonian heritage!
Plot: When I saw this cover in the solicits I thought to myself, "Are they really going to get this right this time?" I had a good feeling based on the tone of the cover and hopes were high, but it wasn't until I actually had it in my hands that I believed that someone had nailed how awesome Kara should have been all along, how awesome she was in my mind. I mean, Superman's story is great; he's the ultimate immigrant and outsider who makes good and finds his way in life and there are many different versions of the story that give you that great feel but Kara's tale, in my mind, has always felt more dynamic and yet there hasn't really been a story that adequetly captured that feeling to my satisfaction. She's not someone who finds out they are a strange visitor from another world and has to find a way to incorporate that into their being...she knows from day one that she is different, she wasn't an infant she was practically a woman grown when she had to leave her home. She knows who she is and knows that everything is different now and she has nothing left to do but make her own way. It's similar to Superman's journey, sure, but subtly different too, and that slight difference really matters in my head. And it obviously mattered to Mariko Tamaki too as for the first time she delivers that difference to the page. She captures all the wonderfully weird bits of an alien living your typically human life, and highlights all the blemishes we face every day. it's beautiful. It has a great supporting cast, Kara feels like a real person and you just never want it to end. This is how Supergirl should always have been and if baffles me that this isn't the "real" origin that she has in the DCU.
Art: Tamaki isn't the only one who gets what a Supergirl book should be either, Jones, Florea and Fitzpatrick really bring that same feel to the art as well. Together their look is light, energetic and natural which gives it that down home feel. What's greater is the diversity of the cast, not just in race and gender but in body types as well, no where is there a stick thin barbie doll or an over muscled adonis, everyone is different which gives it a great sense of realism that really hammers home the point of the narrative.
Grade: 10/10 seriously, go out and buy this book!

My comic shop didn't get DK III #7. There was a notice saying they would get it Friday. So I'm a sad little Hoosier X.
No sign of Doom Patrol or Astro City.
I picked up Captain Marvel #0, hoping the new numbering meant that Carol would be getting a new direction. Nope. She's still the leader of Alpha Flight (for some reason) and they live on a space station. Well, maybe I'll get the next issues and see if it's more interesting this time than it was the last time. And maybe I won't.
I read the new Detective and I think there's a good story somewhere in the Victim Syndicate idea. But this ain't it. And Steph has left the Bat-Family rookie task force. The member that I really liked. It wasn't out of character for her to do that, I must admit.
I haven't had a chance to read Wonder Woman, Batgirl or Black Widow.
