Before reworking the poll, there was 8 voters. Someone's yet to cast his/her vote again.
I'd hate for this poll to have less participation than the other one, just because I made a mistake.

I'm not a fan of polls, as a concept, as they don't get to the heart of the matter. I like Miller's work on the series; but, I enjoyed the swashbuckling Daredevil more. That was Gene Colan's Daredevil. I've read bits and pieces over time. I voted for Thomas and Colan over Stan and Colan as I feel Thomas is a better writer than Stan. Thomas went deeper. Next, I voted for Wolfman and Brown, as it was one of the runs I had read and enjoyed the most, prior to Miller. There's a lot of good stuff in there, both swashbuckling and serious. Brown isn't heralded as an artist, though I think he is a darn good storyteller, as is Wolfman. They weren't the flashiest team; but, they were interesting. Finally, I voted for Shooter and Kane. They were doing mature stories before Miller started aping/homaging Will Eisner and using every crime fiction plot he could muster. They took DD into some dark places, before it was fashionable. Before Secret Wars, Shooter was a hell of a writer. He had his faults; but, he was damn good and he was so here, with Kane getting to do a large share of the plotting.
Since Miller, I haven't really enjoyed much, though what little I have sampled of Waid pleases me. I have a bunch of that waiting to be read and look forward to it. Anyone who can return some joy to the character is worth reading.

Over the last several years I've slowly managed to build up a nearly complete run of Daredevil from around #21 or whatever Colan's first issue was to the end of the Gerber era and I have most of the the earlier stories in reprints of various kinds. After that it's a bit spotty until the Miller run which I have pretty much complete.
Out of all that, the only ones I've already read would be most of the Lee/Colan run, some (probably less than half) of the Roy Thomas, some (even fewer) of the Gerber, and about half of the Miller (I quit in the middle of it). I read most of the Wolfman and Shooter runs that preceded Miller back in the day but haven't looked too hard for back issues of those, as they weren't particular favourites. I'll might start picking up those as well if I see them cheap somewhere. But I'm mostly looking forward to reading and re-reading those first 100 or 120 issues, to the end of Gerber.
I more or less agree with Codystarbuck about Miller: very well done for what it was, but it always felt to me like something foreign grafted onto Daredevil. Miller really wanted to be doing hard-boiled crime stories, so he turned Daredevil the series into that. One of his best stories, the famous one where Bullseye kills Electra, is written from the POV of the villain, who takes on the role of the private detective as Bullseye solves the mystery of DD's secret identity. It was expertly written but it had the presumably unintended side effect of making the detestable psycho-killer villain more interesting than the title character. Perhaps that's why, even though I rate issue very highly, it was the last DD comic I ever bought.

How is Waid-Samnee not included? They're already second in the other poll.

I can only vote for what I've read.
In that regard McKenzie-Miller comes first. McKenzie's efforts gets overshadowed sometimes due to Miller's arrival yet I quite enjoyed his sense of action and drama. Miller's early work was quite distinctive. Because of this duo, Deathstalker remains one of my favorite DD villains.
My other two votes went fro Lee/Wood and Lee/Romita. Wood gave DD a sense of grace and movement that's hard to capture in a comic. I really need to catch up on all of Colan's body of work here.
I will say, the one DD creative team I will never vote for is Bendis/Maleev. I have tried and tried and tried and tried reading various parts of their run and I simply care nothing for it. Repetitive dialogue, repetitive plots, and for me, Maleev's work hasn't aged well. It's rough, course, and sometimes I get confused over which character is which.

Same here. Everyone raves about this run. I tried it a few times & did not like it.

I'll be closing this poll in a week. Two months seems more than enough, and there's been almost no changes, lately.
