the first NY Times best seller list is out and Love is Love tops softcover GN list. You can get a sense of what else is selling comics wise in the book trade rather than in comic shops by taking a look at the list too. -M

Look at all those books published by Scholastic.
But as we know...kids don't read comics.

Raina Telgemeier is responsible for 5 of the top 10 best selling softcover graphic novels and the average comic book "fan" has probably never heard of her or knows what her work is. And gasp, they are comics aimed towards young girls and they're selling... -M

And gasp, they are comics aimed towards young girls and they're selling... -M My daughters own four of the five Raina Telgemeier books on that list and have each read the one that they don't own, and they love them. I've looked through them and while they aren't something I would curl up with before bed, I can't deny that they are well-done Of course, my older daughter also owns at least 10 Marvel Essentials and has two short boxes full of floppies, so it's not like the only things she reads are aimed at her age or gender.
