Looks like Ben is stepping away from the Batman as a director but will stay on to star in and produce the film. BC articleAffleck's statement... and WB's response... -M

Zack Snyder incoming... lol You know it's going to happen If it does happen, it would kill any chance I would see this in a theatre or pay to see it in any fashion. Snyder has become one of those folks who automatically do not get a penny from me for their efforts. I liked 300, Watchmen had a few moments, I have not enjoyed anything else he has been involved with so do not waste my money on it. -M

Hell, it may not even take that long. I'm not convinced at all that Wonder Woman or (especially) Justice League are going to be anything to write home about. Even though Wonder Woman isn't being directed by Snyder...it still seems to have the same aesthetic as a Snyder film. Muted color palette, excessive lens flare and slo-mo shots, etc. I'm also not convinced that Gal Gadot has the acting chops to carry her own movie for 2+ hours. And with Justice League, it's like they're going from little to no brevity in previous movies to cracking jokes left, right and center. Just the Flash scene from the initial trailer had enough lame, forced jokes to fill an entire entry in the MCU. Personally, I wish DC/WB would just hit the reset button and do a hard reboot of the entire thing.

The Wonder Woman film looks interesting to me, and may be the first DC film I go to see in a theatre since Man of Steel disappointed me so badly.

Well now reports are that Matt Reeves will be directing (with Ridley Scott as a back up just in case), but now Affleck wants out of the role of Batman... articleno word from Ben or WB, just reports. Sources close to Affleck say he is afraid of a repeat oft he career slump he suffered after Daredevil and that even if WB doesn't let him out of this movie, it will be the last time he plays Batman so no franchise built on him after this one even if he sticks around for it. No one seems to want to stick around long term on these DC films (Laurence Fishburne has opted out of playing Perry White in any more movies after commenting Marvel movies are kicking DC's ass in terms of quality and viewer response) unless their career is on life support or they are trying to make a name for themselves. We'll see how it plays out I guess. -M

I don't think that Christian Bale will do another Batman film and if Affleck wants out - the JLA film could be in serious problems in the future I'm not counting out Bale yet, Stevo but it will be highly unlikely that he will do it.

And now it looks like Matt Reeves, the man tapped to step in to replace Affleck as director of the solo Batman film has dropped out of the negotiations for the job, so the director search will have to start up again. I keep hearing Ridley Scott's name mentioned, but I can't imagine he would want to take this on at this point in its development. He usually likes to have a say/control a project from the outset.

I am nw wondering if Reeve was posturing as a negotiating tactic to get more money or other concessions, or whether this is a troubled signing and he could step away further down the road again? Time will tell.

All signs seem to point to Reeves being given creative freedom on the movie, which bodes very well for it.

All signs seem to point to Reeves being given creative freedom on the movie, which bodes very well for it. Affleck was promised creative freedom on it to get him to sign too. Look how well that turned out. Warner seems to promise all the directors on these things creative freedom, until they do something Warner doesn't like, then we get new directors on film after film in the DC film u. -M
