I still remember having a long conversation, driving Stan back from a dinner meet-up at Motor City Comicon, while he was still working out this story and wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do with the Lord of Owls yet. He very patiently allowed me to yammer on about what I thought the Lord of Owls should end up being/representing. After, he told me that some small part of what I'd said had worked its way into this story, but I think he may have just been being kind.

I still remember having a long conversation, driving Stan back from a dinner meet-up at Motor City Comicon, while he was still working out this story and wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do with the Lord of Owls yet. He very patiently allowed me to yammer on about what I thought the Lord of Owls should end up being/representing. After, he told me that some small part of what I'd said had worked its way into this story, but I think he may have just been being kind. It's a perfectly good direction to go, and I'm really looking forward to the next Lord of Owls story. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed that the LoO evidently has a supernatural element to him like Sasuke or Jei and is not just a nutcase. I think nutcases make for more frightening--albeit not necessarily more formidable--antagonists. |

My memory of the first story might be faulty, but I think all the deaths in his vicinity can be interpreted as he sees those who are destined to die, or he sees those he wants to kill. |

I don't think we know enough to say where the Lord of Owls falls on the Good-Neutral-Evil continuum. I really just mean that we need other supernatural beings out there who don't overtly serve evil. My suggestion to Stan was for the Lord of Owls to serve good gods that oppose Jei's gods, but I think Stan has something more nuanced in mind for the character. Maybe Sasuke is a more overt counterpoint to Jei. |

That would be an awesome idea for a second original graphic novel, a follow-up in sorts to Yokai..... |
