The Emerald City Comic Convention is less than four short weeks away, which means it's time to announce the details of our annual CBR/CCF NW get-together. Once again this year, we aren't doing anything formal but a bunch of us are getting together for dinner
Saturday, May 4, 2017
at
The Lucky Diner 2630 1st Avenue Seattle, WA (206) 805-0133
from
7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
The food and facilities at the Lucky Diner is comparable in quality, quantity and price to our beloved gone-but-never forgotten Hurricane Cafe, it's not far from the Seattle Convention Center, and, yes, there’s a bar!
Rob Allen and yours truly will once again be your jovial hosts and, as always, significant others, spouses and well-behaved children are more than welcome. So come join us for some good eats, geek cameraderie and post-convention frivolity. You'll be glad you did.

I'm unable to attend this event because March 4th is my dear friend who will be celebrating his 50th Wedding Anniversary and I have to attend it because I was his ring bearer at the age of 8 years old. They want all Wedding Party Members there so that a picture will be taken for that special event alone.

Bummer, Juggy! One of these years, my friend. Cei-U! I summon the deferred gratification! Sorry, this event that I was planning on attending was put together last Thanksgiving and everyone in the Wedding Party is excited to join in and it's like a reunion of sorts and I keep tabs on couple of Ushers and the Maid of Honor and unfortunately my Mother passed away and she was the Photographer of the Event. It will be in Portland Oregon on the 4th and I'm staying overnight because they are planning on having a reunion brunch and a small gift exchange as well. I'm very excited about this and couple of members e-mailed me and they are looking forward to this event. About 70 people will be showing up and they rented a Hotel Convention Center to host it. I'm not going alone; one of my oldest brother and his wife is also attending it in place of my Parents and they know the Ushers and the Maid of Honor as well. That's all I have for now.

It will be in Portland Oregon on the 4th What a coincidence! I live in Portland but will be at the con in Seattle on the 4th. Like Kurt, I hope to meet you one day, Juggy. Let me know the next time you'll be down in Portland.

Let me know the next time you'll be down in Portland. After the Brunch on Sunday, I've got to get back home immediately and pretty much all my time is held up with my friend 50th Wedding Event. I just can't get out of it and as soon the Brunch on Sunday is over - I have a pressing event to attend when I get home in Seattle around 1pm in the afternoon. The Brunch is from 9am to 11am.

Well, we have a major problem. Turns out the Lucky Diner, like the Hurricane before it, has gone out of business. Less than a week til the dinner and no place to go. Rob, do you recall the name of the other place we considered? At this point, I'd settle for a reasonably clean Denny's!
Cei-U! Oy gevalt!

Okay, we've found a new venue. The 2017 dinner will be at The Lost Lake Cafe and Lounge1505 10th Ave Seattle WA (206) 383-5678 The menu and prices are comparable to the Hurricane and the Lucky Diner, it has a bar, it's wheelchair accessible, and it's reasonably close to the Convention Center. In other words, it checks off all the boxes on our list. Whew! Cei-U! I summon the satisfactory resolution!

Yikes! I just saw your last 2 posts. Thanks for finding a new place so quickly! I'll print out some google maps so we don't get lost on Saturday (we both know that's no guarantee that we won't get lost anyway, but we always get there eventually).
