Well there is Mr. Sure and Steady himself, Dick Dillin, who pencilled Blackhawk from issue #64 (cover dated May 1953) until issue 241 (cover dated June-July 1968), then the next month started on Justice League of America with issue 64 (cover dated Aug 1968-though he had done 3-4 issues the year before as fill ins and/or try outs) and then pencilled the book until his death, with his last issue being #183 cover dated Oct 1980. Dillin did not do any fill-ins on Justice League prior to #64. All previous issues, including the Brave and Bold issues, were penciled by Mike Sekowsky. He did, however, draw the JLA when they guest starred in a few issues of Blackhawk during their brief, unfortunate super-hero phase, so I guess you could consider that a tryout. Cei-U! I summon Mr. Dependable! My bad, I misread the GCD when I did the Dick Dillin penciller search. I saw him credited as penciller in JLA 57-59 before his stint started on issue 64 but didn't look what he actually pencilled, assuming it was the main feature, but it was a credit for house ads in those issues (which often throws me on GCD searches). I summon a mea culpa -M

How about Jack Kirby on FF.
102 consecutive issues doing all interior story art.
101 consecutive issues doing the cover art.
Began with issue #1 of the very first appearance of the title characters.
Yes there have been longer runs by artists, but how many started with the first issue?

The last time this came up though, I think the runs of some of the Archie artists (despite ICC sayingthey don't count because it's Archie) pretty much trumped all the other runs.

? Huh ? It has nothing to do with he muscle and everything to do with the work and detail drawn on each page.

Don Decarlo and Toth are equal in your eyes?

Don Decarlo and Toth are equal in your eyes? You're the one talking about detail on the page. Toth was a minimalist. If you read a lot of interviews Toth and DeCarlo are frequently named together as artistic influences. By Darwyn Cooke, for one.

Without looking them up to check, I think Herb Trimpe and Sal Buscema each had a long run on the Hulk, did they not?
Gene Colan on Tomb of Dracula - closest to any artist equalling Kirby's #1 to #102 run on the FF?

How about the last 10 years? Has any artist stayed with a book that they don't own ?

Charles Biro wrote all 117 issues of Boy Comics! Including many and sometimes all of the backup stories when it was a 64, 52, and 44 page comic.

Speaking of Buscema, his brother Sal, drew the Hulk for over 100 issues. How long was Sal's run on Spectacular Spiderman?

Speaking of Buscema, his brother Sal, drew the Hulk for over 100 issues. How long was Sal's run on Spectacular Spiderman? his long run was #134 to #238 with a few interruptions and crossovers in between. For the purposes of this thread I am going with created but rather than creator owned, so Kirby on FF or Colan on TOD don't qualify for me. IMHO

Peter David wrote the Hulk from # 328-467, that's 140 issues.
