i liked James' idea about a thread asking for folks to comment on favorite FF villain's garb so much, I thought I'd start a thread asking the same thing regarding favorite Spider-Man villains. Thanks for the great idea, James. I hope you don't mind my using it.

Hooray! My top 3  Its nothing special but I love the Shocker's costume. The yellow and brown just work for some reason...  Green Goblin was great. Hobgoblin amped it up 100% and made a creepy look even creepier. It is a perfect costume...and the glider? Oh joy!  The original Ditko costumer is great, don't get me wrong. No Scorpion look has ever let me down (edit..the Byrne one did in ASM Volume 2) and I think Buscema did the best version here. I think McFarlane may have been the first to add the spike though, correct me if I am wrong. |

This guy.  I'm not sure exactly what it is about his costume I like so much, but Mysterio was the Spidey villain I drew most often as a kid. The strange fishbowl helmet, the eyes on the chest, the elaborate gloves, and the constant swirling mist surrounding him absolutely fascinated me… and still does! Cei-U! I summon the special effects genius! |

This guy. I'm not sure exactly what it is about his costume I like so much, but Mysterio was the Spidey villain I drew most often as a kid. The strange fishbowl helmet, the eyes on the chest, the elaborate gloves, and the constant swirling mist surrounding him absolutely fascinated me… and still does! Cei-U! I summon the special effects genius! Shucks! I was in the process of searching for an image and you beat me to it, expressing perfectly everything I love about Mysterio. It's the kind of design that could only have sprung from the mind of Ditko. A winner! |

I would say Mysterio as well. His look is so compelling, I kind of wish he was a more formidable character, one with real mystic powers instead of just clever stage effects.
My #2 would be Kraven the Hunter. Don't know why it works, but it does. If you described the costume to me - open vest, fur collar, long-short pants, etc - I'd say it sounds awful, but somehow it isn't.
