If you Google, it's there This type of answer discourages discussion on the forum. Many of the questions posed are more for discussion than a quick answer. You could have just provided your own answer instead of trying to teach me how to answer.

I don't think I taught you a thing.

It's kind of overwhelming in a way to just be getting serious about reading Marvel collected editions. I'm interested in starting with select Silver Age Marvel titles from the beginning and going from there. I'm plodding along picking up Masterworks as I go. Looking at Epic collected editions and trying to figure out any rhyme or reason to what they've printed so far isn't easy. A quick look at what has been printed in Epic collecteds seems like it's been haphazard, and doesn't really fit in with a collection that's based on building through Masterworks.

A quick look at what has been printed in Epic collecteds seems like it's been haphazard, and doesn't really fit in with a collection that's based on building through Masterworks. When they launched the Epic line, they stated they would collect the entire runs of those titles eventually, but they weren't doing them in order and were going to give attention to parts of the runs that hadn't been collected before or weren't readily available in print. They did Vol. 1's to a lot of the Silver Age stuff as part of the 75th anniversary of Marvel blitz, but for the most part the Epics have focused on underexposed parts of the runs or things that were out of print already. There's rhyme and reeason to it, it's just not coming out chronologically like the Masterworks do. -M

The Epic's look nice on bookshelves (I saw a photo of somebody's Epic collection on another forum.) but I never bothered with them as I prefer hardcovers and like chronological releases. They are a cheap way to build up collections of silver age Marvel stuff though.

I have to fight the impulse to buy some epic books because I already own the originals. But it's so colorful and pretty...

I just pre-ordered the Justice League of America in the Bronze Age omnibus collecting issues 77-113 of JLofA, i.e. the beginnings of the satellite era. Amazon had it at half price as a pre-order and I still had some free Amazon credit as part of our banking rewards, so I decided to grab it. -M

I just finished FF 55, thanks to the Masterworks program. When I'm done with this volume I'll be out of FF to read. I intend to address that at some point. After this I will likely turn to reading a couple Amazing Spider-Man Masterworks. I have awaiting on my bookshelf Amazing Spider-Man Vol 6, featuring issues 51-61. Last night on eBay I snagged volume 7 for $28. It's complete, but the dust jacket has a piece of the cover art missing in what looks like an incident with tape. Acceptable to me, but barely. That book sells for a lot more than that normally, and I'm piecing my Masterworks collection together on a strictly limited budget. When I see an opportunity to snag a Masterworks I know I'll need a bit down the road for a great price I usually do so. I only buy hardbacks with dust jackets. Also on my bookshelf still is a TOS Masterworks featuring Cap, and a DD Masterworks with his first stories. Recapping what I've read via Masterworks, I've marveled at Amazing Spider-.Man 1-50 with the corresponding Annuals, and FF 1-55 with the Annuals that are in those volumes.

I've recently read Showcase JLA #6 which has a bit of overlap, looking forward to this one, great era for the JLA.

The forwards in Masterworks are often great and insightful. It's fun to read about some of the inner workings of Marvel Silver Age as written by the giants incolved.
