Anyone know if there's any old Wyatt Earp comics to find these days? The comic was from Atlas/Marvel decades ago.

Marvel reprinted some of the Wyatt Earp series in the 70's, though to be honest, I don't think I've ever actually seen an issue of the reprint series in all my years of collecting. The short run picked up the numbering from the 50's Atlas series.  |

Well the old Atlas/ Marvel series of the Wyatt Earp is what I'm trying to hunt down especially issues 24, 26, and 27

It makes me wonder why Marvel decided to publish this in the 70s and why they stuck with the original numbering. I wonder if they were just re-establishing their copyright on the title. |

At the risk of being pedantic, you don't re-establish copyrights. They are for a set period of time (one that seems to be ever expanding thanks to our corporate Congress). Trademarks do expire, though I find it hard to believe that Marvel would be concerned about a trademark on Wyatt Earp. |

Charlton had an Earp comic but it was titled, Frontier Marshall, Wyatt Earp. I see on Marvel's first 70s issue(#30) there is a blurb at the bottom that says The Fighting Frontier Marshall. I still think there was some legal reason for this revival.

Dell also published a Wyatt Earp comic in the late '50s/early '60s, in this case an adaptation of the TV series. Because Atlas was already publishing a comic starring the famed lawman, Dell's book bore the ungainly title Hugh O'Brian [as] Famous Marshal Wyatt Earp.

Naw, more likely this was put out when Marvel publisher Martin Goodman, from time to time, thought it wise to flood the market with titles to increase market share and did so using reprints-the cheapest way possible. Goodman did this quite often |

Don't know if it is a legal site or not but found an internet blog which "collects" for download to preserve the Western comics from various sites and archives. westerncomicsblog.wordpress.com. You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like Cdisplay or ComicRack. They list Wyatt Earp comics among their free downloads. LOOONG listing of series: worth looking into. |
