Terrific idea! Terrific cover! But why are a hexagonal nut, a screw, and a watch gear flying from the guy's head ??

When I threw this somewhat incoherent but wide open theme I was waiting for/hoping for someone to pick this classic.
Regarding the machine parts... I read that one theory has it that those elements were originally absent from the cover as first drawn, but someone in editorial decided it was a bit too gruesome even for the ore-code era, so the solution was to get a few token mechanical parts thrown in to the exploding flesh so the face might appear a little less human, and therefore I suppose offensive.

Robotman's body and the hearts of The Chief, Elasti-Girl and Negative man are all shattered. That's four shatterings for the price of one!

Excellent covers this week. Will be a tough choice.
I've been waiting to see a couple I thought would pop up. The Teen Titans was one that came to mind quickly. Two that have been posted remind me of two others I thought of using: the Adams Superboy and the Action with Kandor.
There's a famous Detective issue I thought might show, too.
A fertile choice for the competition, benday!
