I never really watched the original. Only bits and pieces when it came on cable TV.
Has anyone read the book? Is it really terrifying?

It's been over 20 years since I read the book (which makes me feel incredibly old). I'll probably try and give it a re-read before the movie. I remember liking it a lot and being creeped out when I read it. The movie looks really good.

Supposed to be more in line with the novel
I was never a HUGE fan of the TV mini-series, but I like it well enough.
I just don't know how the hell this new guy is even going to come close to giving the kind of performance that Tim Curry gave as Pennywise.

Did this get pushed back? I thought all those clown "scares" last summer were marketing for this and had though that it had already came and went in the theaters.
