The hardcover version is my favorite, which is perfect because that's the version I'll be getting. Do we know yet if/when Stan will be selling them directly? I always preorder these things from Amazon so that I don't miss them, and then Stan announces he's selling them directly afterward. I've finally learned to ask first 😊

I will be doing a Sakai Exclusive variant both in regular and HC. They will both have the same image, and it will, hopefully, also be a pin-up in the regular HC edition. I will not have the Sakai HC variant at San Diego, though. Daniel will have most of the items on the StanSakai website after the con. There are a few things we are contractually prohibited from selling. Hopefully that helps answer your question.

I just recently caught up with the IDW turtle series after lapsing for a few years and found out about this book and I'm pretty pumped.

I have the regular issue for now, but I'll absolutely get the hardcover if I see it because the art was amazing.
The story itself was a fun action romp, though I almost wish it were perhaps two issues so Stan could have delved more into the mythology and provide more characterization for the turtles as they felt a tad generic. Otherwise though it was pretty great.

I thought this was a great story, and as a collector I loved the idea of being able to get four different variant covers from Stan, more so than getting variants by Aragones, Petersen, and Eastman. The price was a little bit higher than normal for the size of the comic, but I presume that dealing with Nickelodeon played a big role in that. I am really looking forward to getting the hardcover editions in order to see what the extra material will consist of, but bummed out that the best extra that could have been included wasn't available due to water damage over twenty years ago. Can you picture how cool it would have been if the original color version of Shades of Green could have been included with Namazu in the upcoming hardcover edition?

Man that is sad, I would have loved to have seen that.

Well, my copy is reserved by my LCS. Now just have to wait for it within my monthly shipment.
Though now in a twisted way, I'm living out Gene Wilder's saying from Willy Wonka: "The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last"

Though now in a twisted way, I'm living out Gene Wilder's saying from Willy Wonka: "The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last" Mine is an ongoing suspense since I am still waiting for my Fried Pie variant to arrive from Books-a-Million, my Other Realms variant to arrive from Hawaii, my Sakai Exclusive variant, my Eastman Fan club exclusive, and my SDCC Eastman Exclusive to arrive from California along with a bunch of other Usagi goodies from the convention. Of course, I am also waiting for the hardcover editions to be released. Definitely feels like Christmas in July (and August), especially when you add in the Usagi Yojimbo Saga: Legends, and Usagi Yojimbo Book 31: The Hell Screen.

Got this in my DCBS box today.... I love when Stan uses myths and legends to craft the story! I did feel like the turtles (and Jei, really) were a bit shoehorned in to match the cartoon... the story could have worked just the same if Usagi was with his usual supporting cast... the turtles were mostly wallpaper.
Great art though, especially the pull out 4 pager! I was also impressed with the cover art from Eastman.. glad I got the Hardcover that included most of the alternate covers.
