Free comic book day was started in 2002 and coincided with the new Spider-man movie that was released that weekend. Most fans and non fans alike look forward to this day and flock to the local comic stores. The last 2 out of three years I donated long boxes of comics to a library that's located in a poor neighborhood and I have over 3 longboxes ready to go , so far. What are your plans for May 6th ?

I'll do what I've done every year for the past five, which is get my daughters up early, take them for doughnuts, then hit the LCS at 8:00 AM so they can get some cool things to read. My wife will be running a 5K that morning, so it's me and my nerdy girls, and I love it!

I never go to those Free comic book day things since I have no need to . Don't have the money either.
Plus I've done enough comic book buying since January up to April. I have alot of old single back issues to catch up on and the newer stuff such as Death of X still to read and the Inhumans vs X Men and Superman Rebirth. And others

I may end up having to work that day, so I'm not sure if I'll be going. There's not too much that I'm interested at this point anyway. The Incal and the Fantagraphics issues are cool, but I don't really need them. What's everyone else looking forward to?

I plan to work. The nearest comic shop is a two hour drive.

There is one comic I'm hoping will still be at my shop when I head down there - The Tick. This should be about the sixth or seventh Tick comic released on FCBD and it kind of drives me crazy that as far as new material featuring the big, blue arachnid is concerned, this is it. There hasn't been an ongoing series since about 2009 or so and I've read all the back issues there are so since then, it's like buying a title you're passionate about, that's published only once a year.
It also looks like there'll be a 2000AD comic released so I'm sure I'll grab one of those as a Judge Dredd fan, but I doubt I'll be throwing little kids and their grandmothers to the floor to pick it up the way I will be The Tick.

At my LCS that I go to ... I've already made arrangement with the owner of the store to hold me one copy of this book ... As a preferred customer - I got what I wish for.

Last year my LCS also held books for me. They allow 5 books per person. I don't really see much that's worth it this year, though.

It's not so much the books for me at this point, although I'll grab The Tick offering, probably Space Ghost, and anything Marvel. For me, this is a tradition for me and my daughters, and as they both approach teenhood, they're not going to want to do this forever, so any chances I get to hang out with them lime this are worth it, even if the majority of the comics hold no interest for me.

I'll probably go to see what other deals they have. I don't care too much about the free comics as they always end up in a pile of stuff I want to give away anyway.

If my friends are going, I may tag along. It's also SAT day for my son, and the university I work at has a big public event that day, so the schedule's already pretty full.
