Stick is back!
I hope this is good. Daredevil and Jessica Jones were great, but the last two Marvel Netflix shows were disappointing.

Nice nod to the Iron Fist costume with the zip-up top there.

Nice nod to the Iron Fist costume with the zip-up top there. Still don't get why they didn't give Danny his mask from the comics so that they could've used a competent stunt double with more than 3 weeks of martial arts training.

I admit that the fights, which should be a major thing with the Iron Fist series, are pretty unimpressive. Even without a mask, it should be possible to shoot fights scenes with a double, keep the shots where we don't see his face, and splice them with regular shots of the actors in which he executes easier moves. Like the audition scene in Flashdance... as a kid, I had no idea it wasn't Jennifer Beals dancing.

Like the audition scene in Flashdance... as a kid, I had no idea it wasn't Jennifer Beals dancing. Yeah, that was easily my biggest complaint about the show. I mean, Finn Jones is nothing to write home about as an actor in the first place, but just having improved fight choreography would've done wonders for the show. Hopefully the showrunners have listened to the negative feedback so his fight scenes don't detract from The Defenders. I also have to say that I think it's pretty lame how The Hand has been pushed as the main big baddies of the Netflix MCU. They were completely generic and uninteresting in the 2nd season of Daredevil (they should've just devoted that entire season to Daredevil and Punisher's conflicting ideals and shown more of Fisk running the prison IMO...save Elektra and The Hand stuff for later). Then they pushed them in Iron Fist and now they're going to be the focal point of The Defenders. Mystical ninjas also feel totally out of place in these shows (aside from Iron Fist) which are supposed to be more grounded and gritty than the theatrical MCU entries.

Mystical ninjas also feel totally out of place in these shows (aside from Iron Fist) which are supposed to be more grounded and gritty than the theatrical MCU entries. You raise a very valid point in the Hand being generic... They were a huge deal when they first showed up in Daredevil in the late '70s-early '80s; but then pop culture got drowned in ninjas that got less and less mysterious as their overexposure progressed. Ninjas are now kid stuff; pizza-eating turtles, katana-wielding dudes in ridiculous G.I Joe movies, and cannon fodder for just about every other anime flick. I think the Hand would have been better used in the Marvel TV universe had it gone back to the source and remained a mysterious and ruthless outfit. A name, no more, perhaps a recognizable face from time to time, would have been sufficient for viewers to recognize the Hand as a far-reaching threat with deep roots. Turning it so quickly into a mystical order of kung fu killers with their own Hogwart's school for gifted assassins damaged its verisimilitude, as you observe. It just looks fake, now, and being fake it isn't as scary as the normal thugs who tortured the Punisher when he was tied to that chair. Those were scary. Granted, the Hand in the comics is a mystical order of kung fu killers. However, cinematic adaptations don't have to import every aspect of a comic-book creation, especially if said aspect doesn't quite fit the new format. Not that the comics have to be contradicted, but certain things can simply not be mentioned.

Could have done without Kurt Kubain being whored out post-mortem...
aside from that, great stuff.
Greatly enjoyed 'little miss Wanna Be Barabara Steele'.

I am not interested in any version of the Defenders that does not include Nighthawk.
