What is your favorite Marvel run of the 80s and why?
I've tried to list what is generally considered the classic runs of that time but is by no means an exhaustive list. That being said, if you feel like a title or run has been omitted, then please feel free to nominate it under Other. The same can be said with sub-sets within a title during this time. (For example, if you wanted to vote for the O'Neil/McDonnell run on Iron Man or Mantlo's run that preceded PAD on Hulk).

I'm assuming you're talking mainstream MU runs here and not anything published by the Epic line, for example.
I'll go with other and say Roger Stern and John Byrne's regrettably short run on Captain America.

Alan Moore's run on Captain Britain from 1982-1984 beats any of those listed, in my opinion. One of the best things Marvel ever published. I'd also place Bruce Jones's Ka-Zar the Savage, Bill Mantlo's Micronauts, J.M DeMatteis's Defenders and Doug Moench's Master of Kung Fu and Moon Knight above most of them, as well as Doctor Who, Power Man & Iron Fist, Power Pack (yes, really), a lot of Marvel Two-In-One and the later issues of Dazzler and Spider-Woman.

I had many:
Daredevil by Frank Miller/Klaus Janson & then the later issues with art by David Mazzuchelli (both before & after FM's superb "Born Again" series)
Fantastic Four by John Byrne
Thor by Walt Simonson
Master of Kung Fu by Gene Day
Moon Knight by Sienciewicz/Moench
Iron Many by Micheline/Layton
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
Marvel Star Wars

I voted Stern/Romita's ASM, but honestly, I liked the Bill Mantlo/Ed Hannigan/Al Milgrom run on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man every bit as much.
EDIT: I assume we're not including licensed properties like Marvel's Star Wars.

I read a little bit of Marvel during the 80's but I did read Daredevil by Frank Miller and it's one of my favorite Marvel Comics Book during that timeframe. All others are noteworthy, but I barely took a crack at them except Fantastic Four done by Bryne.

I assume we're not including licensed properties like Marvel's Star Wars. Why? Well, only because if the title says "Marvel runs", I assume that that's runs of Marvel characters. Star Wars was published by Marvel, yes, but, I dunno, it's a licensed property and isn't part of the Marvel universe, so I don't tend to think if it as a "Marvel comic". Maybe that's just me though.

I voted for Frank Miller / Klaus Janson Daredevil, which forever affected my comics world view.
My second choice would definitely be the Moench / Sienkiewicz Moon Knight,
and my third the outstanding Master of Kung Fu by Doug Moench (that guy again) with Mike Zeck, and later Gene Day, on art.
This is my favorite Marvel period, however, and there's tons of good stuff including overlooked gems like Micronauts, Power Man / Iron Fist, and Defenders up until the X-Men hijacking of the title.

Yes, forgot to mention:
ROM, Spaceknight - I haven't read the title in so long I've half-way forgotten about it, though I've been wanting Classic ROM reprints for years
Micronauts - especially the early Mike Golden issues!
Battlestar Galactica - the tail end of the series was in the early '80's, and those last issues had amazing Simonson art - another title I would like to see reprinted in it's entirety.
Savage She-Hulk: My favorite She-hulk series; most of these issues were published in the '80's. Looking forward to the first SSH MMW coming out this summer.

Daredevil by Frank Miller/Klaus Janson & then the later issues with art by David Mazzuchelli (both before & after FM's superb "Born Again" series) I don't remember Mazzucchelli drawing any more DD after Born Again. I think he tired of glorifying violence and gave up drawing superheroes after Batman: Year One, a fill-in on X-Factor #16 and an Angel story in Marvel Fanfare #40.

I know he drew the Micah Synn storyline & other issues before Born Again, but to be honest I didn't follow the title after that. I guess I figured he continued drawing for a while, but obviously I was mistaken. I would really like to see all of post-FM DD issues & pre-Born Again issues (i.e., #192 - #226?!) reprinted, as well as the post-Born Again storylines. These are very under-represented re: reprints.
