Aaaargh! A nipple! >choke< won't someone think of the children!!! We'll clamor to the TV for the mayhem of TWD, but still blush like a school girl about nudity. Galactus is right, in some ways, we are a backwater world. Speak for yourselves, much of Europe doesn't have those hang-ups, thankfully. Nor does the UK, at least to that extent. I doubt The Sun would have stayed Britain's best selling newspaper half as long without the page three girls...

Potentially NSFW (by American standards) as a single female nipple is visible: {Star*Reach #7} How can you tell she's single? Well, her partner seems to be avoiding being seen with her, so she is at least estranged...

I primarily speaking about the US and it's taboo of a natural part of life vs violence as entertainment. But there are other cultures and religions outside the US that still make sex a taboo or forbidden thing under many circumstances. The Galactus joke was maybe a bit over the top.

I know we've already seen a lot of Conan this week, but here's one more. I've always really liked this one

I feel I should point out that nudity and sex are two different things. Bare breasts are not necessarily a sexual thing. I find it quite odd that in many places in today's world, women can be made to feel quite uncomfortable and embarrassed about breastfeeding in public.

The association with nudity and sex is mostly Christianity (not to blame all Christians or all Christian religions), which goes back to why nudity, even in a non-sexual way is still censored to a illogical point where as other things that could be potentially offensive aren't given the same degree of scrutiny. Take the Grand Theft Auto games since Vice City. Any "controversy" they've garnered is from sex, nudity, or a character's sexuality, not from the rampant violence that in every entry since Vice City. It's ridiculous I know, but it's pervasive.

But I don't know near as much about Islam as I do Christianity, beside raised in it from childhood.
