For that it's worth, this was always my favorite Megatron, and I finally got him last year for $60. But, as we've discussed before, you and I look for very different things in toys. I won't belabor the point

I've never really cared for the robot design of the G1 Megatron toy but that original Diaclone definitely had a better look. It's kind of scary seeing how accurate that Megatron's alt-mode was back then.

It's kind of scary seeing how accurate that Megatron's alt-mode was back then. It was a also a more satisfying transformation and a less awkward looking robot. I suspect they went with the Megatron design instead because it was larger / closer to Optimus Prime's size-scale.

A third party company Wei Jiang recently released a pre-production version of their upcoming "NE-01 New Evolution Megamaster" which essentially is an oversized Transformers Masterpiece Megatron with some slight alterations. I'm curious what shaxper thinks about the transformation as to me it seems much less complicated than the official Masterpiece version. I actually really like most of these oversized Masterpiece Transformers I've seen from 3rd party companies particularly the G-1 looking designs.

The Combiner Wars Megatron sits in with my limited collection of Masterpiece TFs. It's the right scale, I like the look, the transformation is simple, and he turns into a tank instead of a giant gun, which has always made more sense to me
