Closing in on the end... Tales from the Leather Nun - Ish already posted the PG version of the cover. Tits & Clits Comix - I have only the first of the seven issues, and that's the one Ish posted. Truckin' - all George Metzger adventure/fantasy stories; this is not related to Crumb's "Keep on Truckin'". Wimmen's Comix - a 10-issue series, I have only #6 and wish I had more. Cover by Shary Flenniken, other contributors include Michelle Brand, Mary Skrenes, Roberta Gregory, Melinda Gebbie, and of course Trina Robbins. (Not Only) The Best of Wonder Wart-Hog - Gilbert Shelton's other big success, a superhero parody that predates the Underground era. I have the first issue of three; this one collects material that was published in a U of Texas student newspaper in 1962-63. Next, Yellow Dog, Young Lust and Zap!

The last of the undergrounds in my collection: Yellow Dog - I have only issue #23 of this long-running series. This may be the only underground to reach 25 issues. Cover by Jim Evans; other contributors include Robert Armstrong and Trina Robbins. Young Lust - I have issues 1-4 of this great romance comic sendup. Ish posted the cover of #1; here are 2-4. Covers on #1-3 are by Bill Griffith, who also edited the series; cover of #4 by Jay Kinney. Last, and far from least, Zap Comix, the Yellow Kid of the underground movement. I have issues 0-8; Ish posted 0-6, 10 & 12, so here are the covers of #7, by Spain, and #8,by Crumb. There are more things I want to post, but there are also things that I should have been doing with the time I've used writing these posts, so it may be a little while.

It was great seeing those covers of undergrounds I never owned,Rob.Makes me wish I spent more time and effort back then filling in the gaps to my collection. You do deserve to get re-acquainted with your family and friends after the neglect caused by this thread
Maybe a seperate thread is in order for those early quasi underground/independant titles and leave the undergrounds here in its pure form. So I'm talking about things like the Star Reach Titles, the Ditko or Wally Wood stuff. First Kingdom belonged to that group too. I guess the books that pre-dated Pacific Comics,Eclipse,Elfquest,Cerebus and Captain Canuck. At least if thats what you were alluding to
I'm thinking of starting a thread shortly on a magazine that has been seriously neglected by Classic Comic fans. A magazine that was culturally very significant and had many comics-oriented components.

Just got this one tonight via ebay: Early Richard Corben AND Doug Moench. Seemed like a sure-fire winner. It wasn't

I was indeed thinking of the Ditko books, Star*Reach, Captain Canuck and some semi-pro fanzines like Phase, Orb, Hot Stuf and Gods of Mount Olympus.
First Kingdom I included here because it was included with the undergrounds on comixjoint.com, a website that I discovered thanks to your posts in this thread. I'll be visiting that site again.
Shax, your Grim Wit #2 was rated 8 out of 10 on comixjoint.com - he rates the writing "excellent" and the art "exceptional". Sorry you didn't like it. If you can describe what you thought of it, we might be able to suggest something you'd like better.
Now, much as I'd like to get re-acquainted with family and friends, what I really need to do is get my taxes filed.

If you can describe what you thought of it, we might be able to suggest something you'd like better. Gorgeous Corben art, but a predictable story with nothing particularly special about the writing, characterization, nor plot twist, and a follow-up story by Moench that's "cute" but nothing special. I didn't grab this one in search of any kind of distinctly underground voice, to be clear. I grabbed it for Corben and Moench.

If you want good stuff from Corben and Moench, look at some Warren magazines of the mid-70s. They both did a lot of stories for Warren, together and separately.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me find this comic I saw in the 90s, which I'm thinking was an underground/alternative comic. My older brother had brought it home I believe, and I saw it in July or August of 1992 or 1993. It was color and somewhat simply drawn in some parts and more realistic in others. I don't know much aside from what the characters looked like and some scenes. The cover or opening splash page showed all the characters. All were in their late teens. One was a girl, white with long, wavy red hair, and wearing red lipstick, a wide black cloth headband, and a black dress with a zip front and dark green sleeves. Another girl, I believe her name was Jenny, was standing with her arms folded and crying. Her tears where light blue and looked like lightning bolts to me. She was also white with short, pixie cut blonde hair and wore an off the shoulder sleeveless red crop top, red miniskirt, fishnet stockings, boots or pumps, and silver bracelets. The other characters I remember were three boys. Two were white, one blonde, the other brunet. The blonde wore a light blue overshirt, jeans, and white shirt. The third was tan with dark brown or black hair in a ponytail and wore a white flight suit with green or blue piping.
The first panel I remember showed the blonde and brunet boys walking, the brunet with his right arm over the blonde's shoulders. The blonde was worried and said "A condom a day keeps the doctor away," while his friend laughed saying "You're scaring me, man!"
Next showed a room lined with green potted plants and the brunet in the flight suit was telling a little robot how he was going to have a date. The redheaded girl comes in, and the view was behind them as they walked between the row of plants. She said "Wow, your room's full of love weed!". The next panel showed them sitting on the bed facing each other, arms around each other as they started to kiss. The next panel was a close up of her chest as the guy reached for the zipper. She was holding his wrist and saying "Stop." The following panel showed him looking worried as she smiled. "What's wrong?" he asked. "We're not alone," she mused as they both saw the robot watching them.
The last thing I remember, which really stuck with me was Jenny, the blonde girl. She was curled up in a corner in a dismal room, possibly a public shower, her head in her hands. The view was from above and there was no dialogue. The next panel showed the blonde guy walking and thinking "Damn, Jenny, damn."
I've been looking for this comic for three years now, and I hope someone here may be able to give me some information about it. The latest date would be August or September 1993. I'm thinking this was a PSA for safe sex, and that Jenny was suffering from an unwanted pregnancy or STD. It was probably a one shot minicomic. My brother doesn't remember it, and he said he only read Terminator, Alien, and Predator at the time. I have checked these with no luck. I don't know the title, artists, writers, or company, but I suspect it was an adult-oriented or lesser known publisher.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me find this comic I saw in the 90s... ^^ There was a Ninja High School STD issue published by Antartic Press in 1992. Might be a bit too cartoony looking to be the one you're thinking of, but here's the cover...

I was raised with the undergrounds in my house and while most of it was trashy and unfunny, there was some amazing work out there which deserves to be collected.
