This new series is set to premiere this summer on Disney XD and is replacing the cancelled Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon which ran 4 seasons. It looks like this series is meant to fit in with the new Spider-Man Homecoming movie as one of the teasers shows Spidey in the homemade costume that's featured in the film. Here's the newest clip...
This actually looks better than I was expecting but I can't say my exceptions were high to begin with. I will probably check out the first episode On Demand once it debuts.

I must admit that while I am not a huge Marvel fan, I usually dip my toes in from time to time. I'll watch the first episode for sure.
I love seeing how much short YouTube content they're creating for several of their properties. One day I'll make the time to burn through all the Ant-Man and Rocket & Groot shorts.

If that's better than you were expecting, then you had low expectations indeed... that is one bad cartoon. I guess Marvel figures kids will watch anything.

My expectations from Disney XD are pretty much rock bottom given output like Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man. It blows my mind that they would produce stuff like that after the high quality of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes which for me is one of the best Marvel cartoons ever.

Yeah, but it's one thing to have lousy scripts like Agents of SMASH.. this is also bad animation... at least those other shows didn't look like they were produced in the 70s.

Underwhelmed by it.
But if I'm being honest, I will probably judge any animated Spider-Man against the 2008 Spectacular Spider-Man series and that show remains my pinnacle of animated Spidey goodness.

I watched the two part series premiere On Demand and thought it wasn't as bad as a few of Disney XD's previous efforts but that's setting the bar pretty low. The foreshadowing and world building seem like it might be similar to the Spectacular Spider-Man as they've already introduced quite a few characters to be developed later. I guess that was a major complaint about the previous Ultimate Spider-Man series. I did like hearing Patton Oswald as the voice of Uncle Ben.

I'm surprised this show went with the black costume story line so early. They also gave Miles Morales spider powers in the last episode.
