it amazes me that some folks call for a boycott of marvel, but not a boycott of f-bucket.

I respect the love for Imjur but after looking at it it, it seems more overly 'fussy' than postimage.
I luv fussy for 'painting'.
hate it for posting.

Thanks for introducing us to postimage; I use it now for any image I don't necessarily intend to keep. I don't find Imgur that fussy; in fact, I think it's a pleasure to use! (FAR more than F*bucket ever was). I just hope Imgur doesn't pull a F*bucket on us down the line, because this re-wiring on review posts is an awful time-eater.

Would you guys recommend Flickr or Imgur? I'm finally getting around to replacing my Photobucket photos. I've uploaded over 1,000 images to Imgur and have used it for a couple of years.

so, i cannot any longer recco post-image, sadly. seems - at least for me - the benefits to their site 'no longer apply'. despite 'trying everything'.
my missive to them:
'up til yesterday, i could upload images and post them via direct link on my favourite message boards. for over 2 months.
which is why i suggested your site to my friends as a substitute for photobucket and imjur.
however, this freedom of posting, as of last night has not been possible.
is there something going on? should i tell my friends to not bother with postimage if your services have changed compared to only a week ago?
thx in advance.'
if they reply, i'll share the reply.
i have no high hopes, however.

Phew...
Five months of free time wasted to repair the damage done to the SSoC thread by Photobucket. Five months! And I can't imagine how much time posters with more numerous and more complete threads have lost over that greedy company's dishonest tactics.

I couldn't muster up the energy to repost all of my deleted photos.

Has there been any news about how Photobucket is faring financially under its new "pay to use" practice? I would imagine from what I've seen here and elsewhere on the net, that the company is doomed, but that might not be the case.

Maybe if they priced the site at 10 bucks a month, they would have kept their users.

Back when this was happening all my photobucket posts and blog entries remarkably stayed visible while many others' were replaced by a graphic saying to pay for an account for third party hosting. I don't know why I was immune to that... having been on it for so long beforehand, or being in Canada... I haven't looked at it in ages but signed in today for the first time in awhile, and it required me to reactivate with a confirmation thing sent to my email address. All my photobucket stuff has stayed and been visible where I had used it online, and after the new confirmation it is still all there. I uploaded four new items which I posted here. I've never paid for an account. I might if I start selling on ebay again though and need image hosting. It looks like the rates came way down from what I'd heard about before.

25 a year is reasonable but I've moved on.

“All this ice? Why, it’s been there for a long time! Hell has frozen over an eternity ago, and Roquefort still hasn’t gone back to Photobucket!”
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

I'm glad I'd only uploaded ten or so images to Photobucket before it went belly-up. I don't know how those who had to re-host tens of dozens (or more) images escaped aneurysms.
