Yes. Loads of reprints mostly but I remember GS Hulk being the only affordable way to get Hulk Annual 1. Of course without the same sweet cover.

The funniest of the Giant Sizes was Marvel Triple Action. I'm not sure but I think the Daredevil story in that was a reprint of a reprint.

It's a somewhat interesting progression for Marvel and their oversized books. The annuals started in the early 60s with new lead stories and other filler material (pin-ups, back-ups, reprints, etc.) but by the early 70s had become all or mostly reprints before being cancelled. In '74 they revived the oversized format with the Giant-Size books, now produced quarterly instead of annually, and they followed the same progression, starting with mostly new material and ending up being mostly reprints before being discontinued. In 1976, Marvel relaunched the annuals, again with all new material, and they quickly reached (for me) a pinnacle of storytelling in the 1977 annuals which saw things like the 2 part Thanos story by Starlin in Avengers Annual 7/MTIO Annual #2, The Invaders Annual, the Korvac/Guardians of the Galaxy Annual in Thor Annual #6, the creation of Her in the Hulk Annual featuring a Doc Strange/Hulk team-up, etc. where the Annuals became the home of bigger epic stories, but as they moved into the Annuals to me began to feature more pedestrian stories, almost like giant-sized fill in issues, until Marvel tried to spark them again making them the home for their summer events (Atlantis Attacks, Evolutionary Wars) for a few years followed by things like smaller line wide x-overs (all the X-Annuals telling 1 story, all the Spidey books telling 1 story, etc.) or gimmicks (all the annuals introduce a new character with a special trading card of them included in the polybagged issue), etc. before the annuals fell into obscurity again and were for the most part discontinued again. Both the Giant Size and the Annual have seen revivals this century but those were short lived or simply par for the course kind of books.

So in a very real sense, I see the Giant Size books of 74 and 75 a microcosm of the larger annual format at Marvel throughout the years.

DC annuals have quite a different history,pre-Marvel and through the 60s, but their efforts through the 80s and 90s follow (or inspire) the Marvel efforts at the time pretty closely after essentially not doing annuls in the 70.

In particular I remember ordering



from mail order brothers Joseph & Peter Koch. They had an Art Suydam picture of a lizard playing a piano and a frog listening. Tried to find a pic of it and couldn't.

Anyway, I remember this particular GS because of the excellent art of young energetic Jim Starlin providing a short framing sequence for the stories.



Much as I like the Kane cover, I really loved Starlin's work here, especially on the Hulk



Course the women didn't look too bad either, if somewhat contrived, but oh well, enjoy the scenery

I didn't realize Marvel stopped doing annuals for that long!
