Is anyone else still watching this show? It didn't look like there was a general discussion thread for this show so now there's a place to talk about all 5 seasons of the show plus the upcoming Season 6. The Season 5 finale ends with a pretty big cliffhanger. It was announced at this years SDCC that Season 6 is set to debut October 12th at 9PM. The show has been moved to Thursday nights and will air after new episodes of Supernatural.
Recently I started rewatching the first two seasons which I still feel are the strongest direction the show has had. Hopefully I'll be able to finish season 2 sometime in the next few weeks. I still feel it was a mistake to make Oliver Queen such a dark character and can see why comic fans find this version off putting. At times it feels like an archer version of the Punisher trying to be Batman. It also feels clear that they are trying to capitalize on the tone of the Nolan Batman films. That being said one of the strongest things this show has always had going for it are its action sequences. I also feel the main villains in the first two seasons were my favorites with Deathstroke being the best the show has done.

I stopped watching it two years ago because it was getting too much of a vendetta and the tone of the show changed dramatically so that it was getting too moody and relentless.

I am still watching....although it is more of a chore rather than out of enjoyment. I believe seasons 1 and 2 (and the first part of 3) were good, but with the addition of Wild Dog, Mr. Terrific, etc....I just sort of lost interest. I prefer Arrow, Diggle, and Felicity working alone (unless it's with Roy and Thea) and I miss the dynamic of the first two seasons--and I miss Tommy!
Maybe the cliffhanger will weed out some of the unnecessary cast.

Still keeping up with the show. I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 the most. While Arrow was pretty unashamed about its Batman influences, I thought season 3 was pretty blatantly ripping of the Batman mythos with the League of Assasins and the sword fight between Bruce... er, Oliver and Ra's Al Ghul. Season 4 was pretty mediocre on all levels. Season 5 improved by having a good villain, but it felt like it was starting to recycle old ideas -- forcing Oliver to accept the idea of working with others, whether Oliver is/isn't a killer, etc. Still hopeful they can turn it around with season six.

I think the tone of the show improves with the success of The Flash. I do have problems with some of the direction starting with season 3. Like killing off Sara Lance and Laurel replacing her as Black Canary only to kill off Laurel and replace her with a third Black Canary and bring back Laurel as the evil Earth 3 version of herself. Confused yet?

I've watched about the first season and a half with my youngest son on Netflix. We spend a lot of time rolling our eyes. But it's fun to make fun of, so there's that.

I finished rewatching the first two seasons over the last few months and still feel they are the strongest story arcs overall. The season 2 finale spans the final three episodes but the buildup to the confrontation with Slade starts in season 1. I don't think I will go onto rewatch the third season as I remember not caring for some of the direction.
One of my favorite Lyla moments in the series is when she shows up in a helicopter and blows up the clock tower with a rocket launcher killing Deathstroke's super soldiers in the season 2 finale. I thought that was pretty badass.
Some things in the first season that I didn't care for...
While I thought the Huntress costume looked great I felt they did a terrible job adapting the character. She felt completely unlikable being single mindedly revenge driven while killing innocent people in the process. In all fairness I do think she was used as a foil for Oliver.
Deadshot losing an eye the same way as Slade felt completely unnecessary and obviously isn't comic accurate. Neither was the tattooing the names of his victims all over his body. That felt like a Zsasz ripoff which is yet another nod to Batman in this show. Also the tattoos looked like bad fonts off of the computer.
The mask that Brother Blood wears is way too similar to the Scarecrow as was his use of fear. It's easy to understand people's complaints about this show being Batman-light.
I never really cared for the actor who played Roy so I was glad to see his character leave.
I felt the Laurel story arc made the character less likable. She starts off grieving the death of Tommy then turns against the Arrow while struggling with drugs and alcohol. She does arguably start to gain some redemption later as the season progresses though.

I never warmed up too much to the main show. The stuff on the island was really the only thing that interested me in the first season. Season 2 improves the modern stuff, though the flashback sequences still come off stronger. Slade Wilson is, by far, the strongest villain, though John Barrowman, as merlyn, is also quite good. I watched part of season 3 and was rather bored. Haven't finished it.
I just can't get into the characters. A lot of the performances seem stiff, to me. Stephen Amell has about two, maybe three expressions and Katie Cassidy just din't really have much of a personality, except hurt or angry.
It's a bit too CW, for my tastes. It has moments; but, I really found my enjoyment varies greatly from episode to episode. I did enjoy Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, though wish they had made him Ted Kord in actuality, not just in personna. Also wish he could have shown more of this side of his talent in Superman Returns (not that he had much to work with).
I also have a pet peeve with every superhero adaptation taking place at night (exaggeration; but, it feels that way). Even daredevil, which what I saw, I liked, is way too dark for me (lighting and tone). I'm still going with Justice League as having my favorite adaptation of Green Arrow, though I do have a soft spot for Alex Toth's version, in the original Super Friends.

I still watch it but it's not my number 1 fav, anymore. The Flash has taken that spot. The first 3 seasons of Arrow were great, but now I only watch it because of the crossovers with the other shows. Seasons 4 &5 were weak in my opinon. Though 5's cliffhanger does leave me wondering who died.

I watched the season debut last night.....it was ok. Not a fan of most of the supporting cast. Not sure it will be a must watch anymore. Feeling the same way about Supergirl.

Most of the first episodes were underwhelming (except Riverdale which was outstanding!).

I thought the season premiere was pretty strong although there are still some aspects of the direction I don't care for. I do like the use of the 5 month time jump to return to the status quo and the flashbacks may be the most interesting since season 2. I think Laurel has been much better as an alternate Earth villain than as the original version of the character and enjoy seeing the two Black Canaries battle. I'm also curious who the mystery person was that possibly resurrected her on the island. Great cliffhanger ending!

I was surprised they actually name dropped Bruce Wayne in the second episode of this season. I still don't care for Ollie being a dad but the action is this episode was pretty solid as it's usually the highlight of the show for me anyway. It looks like Diggle and Dinah are developing a sort of buddy cop dynamic while Felicity and Terrific continue to provide the humor. Interesting direction with Diggle taking up the Green Arrow persona while dealing with PTSD. Another thing I noticed is that they haven't revealed the big bad for this season yet.

season 6 episode 6 "Promises Kept" I thought this was one of the best Deathstroke episodes since season 2 and the team Arrow story line was pretty good as well. Interesting they name dropped Slade's other son Grant who IIRC showed up in DC Legends of Tomorrow in a possible alternate future.

S6 Ep 8 "Crisis on Earth X, Part 2 I was not expecting Tommy Merlyn under the Prometheus mask and honestly I was speculating he would be last season instead of Adrian Chase. I thought Melissa Benoist was surprisingly good as her evil counterpart. I liked how Team Arrow was finally able to show up during the climax. Metallo showing up was another surprise. Great cliffhanger!
