I am curious to hear YOUR stories. Personally, I wanted to be a police officer, always thought I would thwart crime like Batman!! But, in the long run I ended up working with developmentally challenged individuals, still a good cause. Any Police Officers here?

I'm a teacher and while comics did not directly influence my career, I do really hope to use graphic novels and comics as part of an English unit when I get the opportunity to teach English (currently all my jobs have been math related as this is my other teachable)

It didn't. Like pinkfloydsound17, I'm a teacher, and thus I feel I make more of a difference than the average costumed hero

I would say comics, especially when I was very young, influenced my love of art. Now, my stick figures are so bad that they have been know to jump off the page and beat me with their own club-like appendages, so I had to adapt and became a photographer...but the live of art is still securely there.

Actually, it did because of the Flash's books and early cartoons done by Filmation he was a Police Scientist and because of that I actually got into Computers working over 20 years and did some volunteer work for 10 helping updating records and creating databases for people that needs records to be stored.
So, did reading comics influence your career ... the answer is Yes.

It didn't, I'm a musician. However, I did write and release a single called "World's Finest" with my old band, back in the late '90s, which featured the word "excelsior" in its chorus. Not that the song was about comics or superheroes at all, but the title was definitely meant as a nod to superhero comics for those who might get the reference. You can watch the extremely low-budget video we shot for "World's Finest" below, if you're interested. I'm the singer BTW. The single managed to struggle to number 10 in the UK Indie charts, before plummeting into obscurity and disappearing without a trace!

Depends on which career we're talking about. My short, frustrating career as a freelance artist? Since most of my focus was specifically on breaking in to comics, the influence is pretty obvious. My career in IT, first as a programmer, later as a business process analyst and database designer? Comics played no role there. My current career as a comics historian? I think it's safe to say comics had a HUGE influence there. Cei-U! I summon the triple threat!

No.
I went into medicine. I was more influenced by Dr McCoy from Star Trek...
and some of the patients do seem like extra-terrestials. Either I am getting old or modern society is making people more bizarre.
