Wow, I think I've the absolute opposite response comparing Moore and Morrison. I find Moore's work far more optimistic and Morrison far more cynical.

That was awesome. But then I'm a sucker for Monsieur Mallah and the Brain, even when they kiss and BLOW UP! Any further Brotherhood of Evil stories are pointless after that one.

I was thinking of taking a break from Morrison's Doom Patrol to read maybe ten or twelve issues of the Silver Age Doom Patrol. I've only read a handful of the 1960s Doom Patrol adventures.
And Doom Patrol #34 seems like a good place for a break! It was such a great issue!
I read the first two or three Doom Patrol stories a while back, but as I can't really remember how far I got, I think I'll just start over.

Guaranteed to deliver smiles and laughs with every new reading.

I read the first two Doom Patrol adventures in My Greatest Adventure #80 and #81. These are great! So much fun! I love Rita Farr so much! I love her costumes! She's always running around like a 100-foot-tall fashion plate. I thought I'd read a few issues of these early stories, but I didn't recognize the story in #81 at all. I must have only read the first Doom Patrol story and then went on to something else.

I really love the Brotherhood of Evil and I was peeking ahead, looking at the covers to see how long I have to wait for their first appearance. It's the first issue of Doom Patrol (#86) after the names of the series chances from my Greatest Adventure. That is one cool cover! I feel like skipping ahead!

Rita was the brains, muscle and beauty of the team! Her shrinking and enlarging to saving the guys all of the time and always looking good doing it and still remaining ladylike and feminine! She was pure old Hollywood glamour in spades!

And it's worth doing a little research on Bruno Preminai if you get a second. He is one of the most interesting dudes in comics. From Wikipedia:
" He became a political cartoonist in his maturity, and was expelled from the country for his anti-Benito Mussolini work. He emigrated to Argentina in 1930, but where he worked for the Agencia Wisner advertising agency and the daily newspaper Crítica, for which he did the 1932-1940 educational comic section "Seen and Heard". Italy's Fascist government during this time kept track of Premiani's Critica work, and decreed he would be arrested if he returned to Italy. Premiani did return to attend his mother's funeral in 1950, years after the Fascist regime had toppled.[1]"
Kicked out of TWO countries!
And he drew what might still be the defining book about the anatomy of El Calballo (horses!) although it was only published in Spanish.

I read My Greatest Adventure #85 last night, which means that that the next issue is where the title is given over completely to The Doom Patrol and the Brotherhood of Evil is introduced! I can hardly wait. I'm going to read it soon. But this issue is pretty good as well! The Chief conspires with Hollywood producers to get Rita to make a movie because the Chief wants Rita away because the next mission is TOO DANGEROUS for a girl! But the Chief seems to have forgotten that Rita is no dummy. She figures out that something is up and leaves the set of "The Diminishing Lady" to give the Chief a piece of her mind! And it's a good thing she does! The Chief, Cliff and Larry are stuck at the center of the Earth facing weird nuclear-reactor monsters that are about to blow up! Rita shows up in the nick of time and saves the day and everybody has a good laugh at what a bunch of male chauvinists the men are. Ha Ha Ha Ha!

She looks totally gorgeous in that Green Dress and I have to get a hold of this book really bad ... it's appears to be a fun story to read and I have to check this one out!

Doom Patrol is just moving along, more and more Silver Age Awesome every issue. I'm up to Doom Patrol #88 with the return of General Immortus ... and the origin of the Chief! I'm starting to think The Doom Patrol might be a candidate for my favorite DC Silver Age series ever. Oh sure, the goofy gender politics in Metal Men are HILARIOUS and it's hard to beat Bat-Mite and the Queen Bee and all the wonderful bananashenanigans in DC comics of this period. But the Doom Patrol is so freaking cool! That rogues gallery alone ... in less than ten issues, they've racked up more cool villains than the Justice League in 100 issues! And this guy's waiting in the wings!
