Marvel and FOX have released a new trailer for their upcoming series The Gifted at SDCC. I think this one looks better than the last one which left me disinterested. I will definitely at least check out the pilot when it airs. Glad to see their are actually some characters from the X-books showing up in this.

My reaction is rather less positive - I thought it looked awful, to be honest: losts of histrionics and over-acting.

I, for one, am excited about it. It gives me a bit of a Mutant X/Dark Angel feel, which are two series I enjoyed even though both sometimes had less than stellar effects or storylines/scripting. I think this might be the live-action X-Men story that the movies failed to be. Kinda intrigued by the inclusion of the Strucker siblings. Their powers in the trailer don't seem to resemble those of Fenris, let alone their personality-- the Strucker twins were terrible people in the comics, you could hardly root for them. So it'll be funny to see them as teenage protagonists.

pity party face-book 'wahhhhh' presented as 'tv' versus real tv, as in 'plot'.
pass.

That seems massively melodramatic in the CW mode... I'll probably give it a shot, but I have a feeling I'm not the target audience.

who's "light boy" supposed to be? I believe he's called Eclipse. I've never heard of the character before and think he might have been created for the show but I'm not entirely sure.

He's basically Sunspot, but they didn't want him to be a rich kid, so they created a new character (also Sunspot is also in the upcoming New Mutants movie, so it was easier to create a new character). I'll give the series a shot. Trailers for Legion were bad and I loved that series.

I think the pilot could have benefited from a longer premiere but overall I felt it wasn't as bad as some of FOX's movie efforts. I wonder if they will confirm Magneto as Lorna's father given they've already name dropped the X-Men and Brotherhood. It didn't look like the kid whose mutant powers exploded in the locker room was actually being hit by those bullies. Kind of an overreaction to having warm water poured on you. His sister's mutant power is creating bubble wrap?

I liked the premiere, but how many people named Strucker are there in the real world? In the Marvel universe it’s a more common name than Smith!
I was glad the father didn’t agonize for ten minutes about his conflict between duty and family. That made him instantly sympathetic. The Sentinels as a branch of the government was also a pretty good idea.
Not as gripping as The Night Director, but I’ll be there for the second episode.

I watched the first episode but I won't be watching any more. Way too dark and depressing for my tastes.
Cei-U! I summon the meh!

Just on LinkedIn alone, I found 120, so while it's no "Smith", it isn't exactly "Zsasz" (of which there are 2 on LinkedIn).

The X-Men have disappeared. While I suppose this will be explained eventually if the writers feel a need for it, does anyone care to speculate what may have happened? Is it a "we're gone into space for an adventure" type of disappearance or a "we're proceeding toward an Old Man Logan dystopia" type of disappearance?

I thought it was fine and slickly done, but it didn't have any of those surprises, weird quirks and odd angles that make something like Legion so interesting. This is about as straightfoward and predictable as this story could be.
