OK this is a spin off thread from icctrombone's excellent Byrne vs Perez poll.
What are your top 3 runs from each creator?
Byrne: I loved his Namor series. Of course his Fantastic Four work was amazing. I loved his run with Stern on Capt America. But his work on X-Men with Claremont will always be my favorite. So:
1. X-Men. 2. FF. 3. Namor.
Perez: This one is a little harder. His Titans? His Wonder Woman? His Avengers? His Superman?
1. New Titans. 2. Avengers (with Busiek). 3. Wonder Woman.

Byrne
-Doomsday +1 -X-Men 108-142 -Legends 1-6
Perez
-Wonder Woman 1-62, Annual 1 -History of the DC Universe 1-2 -Avengers w/Englehart/Shooter (#141–44, 147–51, 154, 155, 160–62, 167, 168, 170, 171, 194–96, 198–202; Annual #6, 8)
ask me to do this again tomorrow and the Perez list might change, and again the next day, etc. as there are so many I like a lot, The Byrne list would probably remain consistent as I am meh about a lot of his stuff and only a handful really stand out for me.

I haven't read any Byrne solo stuff I've actually respected. Granted, his Fantastic Four run is still on my To Read list. Perez: 1. New Teen Titans 2. Wonder Woman 3. Infinity Gauntlet. I know he didn't write it and probably didn't co-plot much of it, but some of that artwork was to die for, especially the cover to #1:

Shax, I can't believe you haven't read the Byrne FF run. It was between reading that next or Avengers #85-300. I'm willing to bet you approve of my decision, as it was based largely on your write-ups on the 2014 list I will get to Byrne's Fantastic Four within the year.

I might have to add to this as other things occur to me but off the top of my head:
Byrne:
Iron Fist #1-15, with inks by Dan Adkins and Frank Chiaramonte X-Men 108, 109, 111–143, inks by Terry Austin Marvel Team-Up 53–55, 59–70, 75, 79, 100 , inks, by various
Perez:
Avengers #141–44, 147–51, 154, 155, 160–62, 167, 168, 170, 171 , inks by various but I especially liked Pablo Marcos Creatures on the Loose (Man-Wolf) #33–37 Marvel Premiere (Man-Wolf) #45–46 Marvel Two-in-One #56–58, 60, 64–65 Marvel Fanfare (Black Widow) #10–13
All my choices are from the 1970s, the earlier part of both artists. careers. The one apparent exception is Perez's BW but I'm pretty sure that was mostly drawn around the same time though it wasn't published until a few years later in the mid-80s. Those issue numbers are copied and pasted from wiki, I haven't checked to confirm their accuracy.

Huh! Well...Let's see...ummmm...huh
Byrne: Batman/Captain American. Not a run. But It's the thing he did I like the most. Captain America w/Stern. A close second. X-Men: I guess.
Perez: Avengers (first run). I haven't read these since they first came out. But I liked them then. JLA: I haven't read these since they first came out. But I liked them then. New Teen Titans: I guess. I haven't read these since they first came out. But I liked them then.

Looking at the various things listed by myself and others, the big difference that strikes me is that I find Perez's later stuff, especially from the late 90s to the present time, is still first rate, though I didn't pick anything from it myself, so far. But I can't imnagine myself listing anything from Byrne after around 1982 or so - I know a lot of people would disagree, of course, but that's the big difference between the two for me.
