11. City of Glass by by Paul Karasik and David Mazzucchelli: this is seriously one of the best adaptations I've ever read; and the pacing is perfect for a mystery: 12. The Marquis: Danse Macabre by Guy Davis #0-5(Oni Press,2000) This is a fantastic modern mash up of swords and sorcery, horror and super hero tropes and the art just blows me away: 13. Superman: Birthright: by far my favorite Superman Origin 14. The Ultimates (Ultimates Vol.1 1-13 and Ultimates vol.2 #1-13, Ultimates Annual #1-2) 15. Sandman Mystery Theater 16. Sandman 17. Doctor Strange: The Oath 18.Ultimate Spider-Man 19. Superman: Secret Identity by Kurt Busiek 20. JSA: The Liberty File+the Unholy Three

So I enjoyed doing this, but for me, it is a snapshot of the moment, and the picture will continually change as I read new things, discover new horizons and look at older favorites with newer eyes. Some of what is on my list will stay the same, others will rise or fall, -M Inevitably. We have enough participation to offset that somewhat. A great series is going to show up in different places on different lists, and some averaging occurs as a result. But the individual responses will fluctuate. Mine have changed tremendously since 2014 and would probably change again if we redid this event next month. I even toyed with the idea of redoing this list every year exactly because of that, but I think that might get too repetitive. Besides, I have a ton of other ideas for top 100 lists to try...

Every year is too often I think. Every two could be ok, but I'd go every 3-4 just to allow for growth and change. -M

I don't intend to revisit this particular assignment for a while yet.

My top 10 have been relatively stable for years now, except some light reordering within themselves. Over the last few years, I've moved Usagi above Astro City, moved Sandman up a few notches and Thanos Saga and X-Men down a few.
The most unstable thing has always been what to do about Avengers. How to divide up the greatest superhero title ever has always been a source of frustration. Last time, we did this I just threw together #41-300, from Buscema's first to last issue. I've considered breaking out 4 eras, 1st Buscema, 1st Perez, 2nd Buscema, 2nd Perez.
I made pretty arbitrary choices this time, marking the Thomas/Buscema run as #11, Stern/Buscema at #15, and separating out Celestial Madonna, Korvac Saga, Gatherers Saga and Busiek's run to sprinkle throughout the top 100. But it really was arbitrary. I really just want to say that Avengers is good and you should read the first few decades of it and then read Busiek's run. And then stop.
The rest of the top 100 will change if we do this again. The lower on the list, the less certain I am of the order. In particular as time slides forward, as lots of my favorite comics are from the last decade. A removal of the classic restriction would have changed about 30 slots.
My actual favorites list has two side lists of comics I can never decide where they go. My "childhood favorites". Comics like the Infinity Gauntlet which I loved upon reading and still love but in hindsight have found to be imitators of great works. Infinity Gauntlet, Gatherers Saga, Kevin Smith's Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-Man. Never sure where to put those. And then comics I've only read once. Which I don't put on my actual favorites list until I've read them again but did sprinkle in to the top 100 here. Buddha, From Hell, a couple others.

Has tabulation begun? I have a tweak I'd like to make to my honorable mention list if it isn't too late. Not a big deal either way.
