Whoah! I had no idea there was more than one issue! I have seen the cover of the comic I have posted multiple times but never the other ones.
This is the greatest news of my life.
(And thanks Rob. I was waaaay too damn lazy to look it up.)

I am gratified to see so many different publishers represented here. I always get frustrated when I talk to folks about what kinds of comics they read and get the comic book equivalent of this famous movie quote...

I came up with in the low 30s, depending how you could stuff that started as it's one thing and became an imprint.. that's counting self-published stuff as it's own publisher, though (stuff like Elfquest, Poison Elves, Cerebus, Bone, etc).. though of course some of those do end up publishing other stuff

I think I've counted 52 publishers on the spreadsheet I use for US publishers, and another 38 on the one I use for British and European.

Just scrolling through my collection on comicbookdb.com I counted over 30 different publishers including digitial and indie. I don't think this list is complete though as it hasn't been fully updated in years. Will have to get on that.

Yep. I'm primarily a Golden and Atom Age collector, so we're talking multiple dozens of publishers represented before we arrive at 1960!

All I'm finding is THIS www.comics.org/series/18172/One issue, published by Parallax Comic Books. I found issue # 2 on MyComicShop, also (according to them) published by Parallax www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=503531 but I can't see an issue 3 anywhere. And nobody on the whole damn internet seems to have written about the history of the Great Society Comic Book. I am unbelievably curious, now! You are worthless, internet!

Ok, i get it. I was confused by "Number of Issues: 3." I assumed that their were three ISSUES published by Three Different Publishers.
There was only one issue if the Great Society Comic Book.
Damn shame.

That's the right series, the company is listed in the indicia as Parallax Comic Books, but the company's real name is Parallax Publishing Inc., which is in the upper left-hand corner of the screen in your link, right under the title "The Great Society Comic Book". The page I quoted from earlier is www.comics.org/publisher/2332/. If there is an issue #2, the GCD doesn't know about it and would welcome information about it. As for discussion of the comic, I found these: envisioningtheamericandream.com/2013/05/16/lbjs-comic-great-society/ ; comixjoint.com/greatsociety.html ; www.amazon.com/Great-Society-Comic-Book/dp/B001L1AUIY ; willrabbe.com/microblog/2011/2/22/huh-lbj-the-great-society-comic-book.html.

My initial thought was less than 10 but after a quick check, I'm ~25 (actually a but surprised).

Can't even begin to list all the different companies. During the 80's I had better contact with the comic book LCS owners here in Phoenix and at times would visit and shop through them at the local Bud Plant distribution shop here. So during the great black and white and independent expansion of the 80's I was there and purchasing anything and everything that looked interesting at the time. Have several long boxes of various publishers which some I enjoy more than others but still go through and read occasionally.

I started looking and was amazed there were so many different ones.
Didn't list fanzines, art books, or books examining comics or the history of comics, unless, like Smithsonian, it actually has comics in it.
Lots of indies here.
Not claiming to have read all of them, but I own them.
Have way cut back on my buys as I try to slog through and catch up on the backlog, which realistically will never happen.
Eventually as I get the whole thing cataloged I'll sell some of them.
Didn't bother to double check, and I did this on a Word doc instead of a spreadsheet, cause I honestly didn't begin to grasp how many there would be, but I count 512 here.
Lots of small press one hit wonders
