Adventure Comics was a long running anthology title for DC. However unlike Action which starred Superman, Detective with Batman & Sensation with Wonder Woman, All-American with GL - it had several lead features. Other comics like Flash Comics alternated between Flash & Hawkman. Comics with several lead features like More Fun (Spectre, Dr Fate, Green Arrow, Aquaman & Johnny Quick) were canceled in the late 40's.
The top 3 were Superboy, The Legion & Aquaman. Superboy had the longest run & both the Legion & Aquaman had several runs.
Sandman Hourman Starman Sandman by Kirby Superboy (several times-longest tenure) The Legion (several times) Supergirl Black Orchid Spectre Aquaman (several times) Dollar Comics (multiple features including the JSA) Dial H for Hero
I really loved Adventure's unique format throughout DC's history. It was one of my favorite titles for many years. Many classic tales came from this title. What are some of your favorites?

For me it would be many of the Legion stories. The classic Spectre run. Aquaman. And the Dollar Comics format.
Also of the series mentioned Superboy, Supergirl, The Legion, The Spectre & Aquaman all had their own solo titles (plus most of the features in the Dollar Comics).

I have the Spectre run, some of the JSA dollar issues and a couple of other random issues I think (Supergirl and Aquaman), but I am not sure what besides the Spectre issues will survive the upcoming culling of my collection.

The Spectre run and the JSA run were the tops for me.

My favorite runs of Adventure were the dollar issues (packed with great stories) and then the split-format featuring Plastic Man and Starman (Prince Gavyn) that immediately followed.

My favorites were the short Dollar Comics run. Especially the JSA stories that continued from All-Star Comics. I also liked some of the Flash, Wonder Woman, and Deadman stories from those issues.

I have electronic copies of all 503 issues of New Comics/New Adventure/Adventure but have yet to read them all. Of those I have read, I'm partial to:
* Simon & Kirby's Sandman and Manhunter * Jack Burnley's Starman * Tales of the Bizarro World * The Legion, especially when drawn by Swan and Klein * The 3-issue Black Canary story by Alex Toth. * Wein and Morrow's Zatanna * The Fleischer/Aparo Spectre * The Dollar Comic era, especially the Deadman and JSA series * Levitz and Ditko's Starman * Pasko and Staton's Plastic Man
Cei-U! I summon the creme de la creme!

I first discovered Adventure Comics when it was a dollar comic. I loved the JSA stories (death of the Earth 2 Batman!) as well as the Flash and Wonder Woman stories. When I started collecting comics, I enjoyed reading the Adventure LSH and Supergirl stories. Lots of classic Legion moments in Adventure. Very fun book!

I only ever had one issue of this series, from the Dollar Comics era; it had Flash, Aquaman, Deadman and JSA.

I'm with mr. jupiter on this and I echo his comments ... and one of the biggest JSA fan under the Adventure Umbrella.

I first saw the artwork of Alex Niño in the backup feature "Captain Fear", which debuted in the issue with the flying horse on the cover and lasted thru the Black Orchid issues and into the Spectre run, six episodes total. It was unlike anything else. DC and Marvel both seemed to be in an experimental phase, trying lots of new things to see if anything would click with the readers. Niño seemed to be a little too far out at that time, but I liked far out.

I'd read earlier Adventures starring the Legion courtesy of my cousins and like a lot of young 'uns, fell head over heels in love with the LSH. The first Adventure I ever owned was #357. However it was tough finding subsequent issues; none of the candy stores I had access to seemed to carry the comic on a regular basis. At some point I managed to persuade my (comic book-hating) parents into gifting me with a subscription to Adventure. The Legion was by far my favorite DC feature, so I was ecstatic! Adventure remains the only comic I've ever subscribed to. Of course, a couple of issues into that subscription the lead feature switched to Supergirl (with the LSH being shoved into a few pages in the back of Action). To this day I remember how dazed and shocked I was when I read that accursed "special announcement" about the switch in the Adventure lettercol. Needless to say, when that Adventure subscription lapsed I didn't renew (though later on when Sekowsky took over the Supergirl feature, I managed to pick up an issue here and there. I was a huge Sekoswky fan and I really liked his "mod" Wonder Woman, so I thought lightning would strike twice. But it didn't; IMO his work on Supergirl was tiresome and sloppy).
