Or I perhaps books that you once loved, but gradually lost their luster. For me, it is the Invaders. I bought a couple issues of the series in the late 70's as a young kid and then in the mid-80's I got back into the series(around 7 years or so after its final issue). I liked the the team, the stories, the art. It was a great book. The Invaders and Defenders were both my favorite teams at that time.
I still like the Defenders, but the Invaders? Hmmm...I guess I can say that the book has aged badly. I read the title now and I really don't like the art by Robbins/Springer and the writing by Roy Thomas just looks amateurish(especially when dealing with the lexicon of the British heroes). I guess part of the reason is that I don't really like Captain American anymore and the team that I once thought was awesome...now has faded a bit for me. Now, I don't hate the book...I just don't enjoy it like I used to. Anyone else out there have a book that they once enjoyed(especially as a young kid/teenager) and then later realized that it was not as good as it had been in the past?

For me, it's Marvel's Alpha Flight Period Alpha Flight lost it's edge when Puck got cut from the team and they did some name changes as well. Also when Marina and Puck were assigned to the B (Beta) Team ... I lost all interest in this team. This is my Alpha Flight and I was very interested in it. When, they renamed Vindicator to Guardian that's another change that made me mad when they assigned that name (Vindicator) to a female that threw me a giant curveball.

New Teen Titans lost it's way in the mid 80's, mainly after Perez left the book because (except for Garcia Lopez's brief stint) the art remained very mediocre.

Alpha Flight, to me has aged just fine. I can still read and enjoy the entire original series even Power Pack.
The original Avengers though, Avengers hasnt aged well even to today. Most of the time, its dull repetitive fights against Ultron or stuff involving Jan, Yellowjacket, and Giant Man and Ant Man.
Then theres Hawkeye being rude to Captain America yada yada. Vision was great for awhile but starts to get really annoying.

X-Men lost it's luster, for me, when Cockrum left the second time, though Paul Smith did a fine job. My interest in the story waned, tough and I jumped after they wrapped up the Mastermind storyline. For me, that book was at its best with Cockrum. Yeah, Byrne did the Dark Phoenix Saga; but, I prefer the more swashbuckling, frenetic Cockrum stories. Dark Phoenix was fine; but, I felt the Byrne period peaked with the Proteus storyline, leading into Dark Phoenix.
I still enjoy Invaders, for all of its pulpy fun. It isn't Thomas' best writing; but, it does capture the era and the style of the Timely comics of the period. I love Robbins' art. It looks like the period, is lively, and he has a nice eye for period etailing, in the costumes, like Sam Brown belts and twin buckles on boots (which army boots of the period used). The superhero and villain costumes look like something that would have been created then, with materials available then. By contrast, All-Star Squadron struggled a bit with this, for new characters.
Infinity Inc was one that lost it's fire quickly. After the first year, when Ordway leaves, it really struggles, thanks to rotating artists. Todd McFarlane brought an interesting dynamic to it; but, Roy's stories were increasingly tied to old All-Star Comics issues, to the point it was distracting. It got worse when McFarlane left. Also, the new generation of heroes was a pretty mixed bag.

It was before my time, but while I like the idea of the Teen Titans, the stories are horribly dated and next to unreadable IMO.

I remember thinking the New Warriors series was pretty good back in the day, but I recently looked at a few and had no interest.
