Oh yeah he has the range but not the desire yes, exactly. I was of course just expressing a personal feeling, not trying to say what Jaime Hernandez should or should not have done.

Things I love about comics? That sometimes the bad guy wins. That my imagination can make the pictures come to life. That sometimes my life correlates with the stories I read. That I can be as geeky as I want. That I can find other people who get why I love certain characters. That I can find people who don't get why I love certain characters. The talent in the artwork and writing.

I love that I no longer worry if my comics will last, at least as long as I will. I love the smell of the paper from the old comics, and just the paper they were printed on in general. I love the coloring of the old covers 1938-1969. I love they they are low tech, no batteries, computers, or college educations needed.

I loved the feeling of inclusiveness the comics of my youth gave me. The little notes from Stan and the bullpen, there was at least an illusion that I was part of the machine, and part of the group! Great stuff

Things i love about comics is how opening up a treasured and beloved worn and torn issue held onto since first buying it off the rack 40+ years ago instantly takes me back in time with thoughts, memories and feelings of those hallowed days of childhood and youth. I can remember the smells and sensations as if i'm really time travelling back to experience those days again. Happens every time with a tear and a smile on my face...

Back then I liked reading the Letter's Pages in the comic books to get other reader's opinions. Some of them were entertaining as hell, especially when they were pissed off at an issue or how the series main character was portrayed contrary to popular belief.

I love the way certain classic artists drew underwater scenes. Sure, today's art is more realistic in the way it portrays The Briny Deep, but in terms of superhero comics I much prefer the pulpy/quasi-fantasy take of underwater adventures. Standouts for me were Jack Kirby and Jim Aparo, particularly in any scene involving Sub-Mariner and Aquaman.

Agree Nowhere. Heath and Colan were particularly good at it. And my favorite issue of Sub-Mariner, #56, by Dan Adkins.

And Bill Everett, in his return to Subby had some really nice ink work for under water.
