Future Quest Presents #2Written by Jeff Parker Art by Ariel Olivetti Summary: Space Ghost and his sidekicks venture deep into the caverns in search of the substance that powers their bracelets only to discover danger lurks in the depths. Plot: Parker continues to tell a fun little adventure story in his second installment of Space Ghost's meeting of the Herculoids. The action was great and what's even better is that they didn't over shadow the character beats as we learned more about Jace and Jan. This could easily feel like nostalgia porn but Parker really makes it feel fresh and makes you care about the characters on their own rights not because of some past love for the property they belong to. At the same time, this isn't some wild reinvention; these are the characters you remember and the tone fits the cartoon perfectly so Parker strikes a great balance. Art: I love the mash up between the cartoony trappings of the original and a real photorealistic look that Olivetti brings to the book. The faces are so real, yet the uniforms have that great simplistic look. Grade:10/10

I think DC has done a pretty good job with the Hanna Barbera titles.

Super Sons #8Written by Peter J. Tomasi Art by Jorge Jimenez Summary: Trapped on another planet in a distant dimension Robin and the Boy of Steel struggle along with new allies to find a way home. Plot: While the buddy cop banter between Damian and Jon is fun and the high action pacing certainly keeps you turning the pages Tomasi's Planet of the Capes is light on characterization and lacks a real sense of purpose. It's not terrible but it doesn't have a whole lot of heart to it which makes it feel rather rote and doesn't really inspire the reader to put too much care into what's going on. Art: Jimenez continues to be solid in depicting the action, though he isn't really given anything all that interesting to depict. Grade: 6/10

Big drop in quality of the script with this arc. Jimenez' art is stellar.

#28. Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Stjepan Sejic. Man the art by Sejic is gorgeous! I feel like this inspired Abnett to up his game. His Aquaman run has been outstanding but this arc has been amazing! We see all the pieces aligning. Rath vs Aquaman & Dolphin and Mera & Tempest. Plus Vulko is working behind the scenes to help! We have seen Aquaman lose his throne before. But Abnett throws some twists into this arc to make it feel fresh & new. I have really enjoyed Abnett's writing on this title & Titans. The only negative? Rath is too one dimensional. I can not rave enough about Sejic's beautiful lush art style. 9/10.

Aquaman has been one of the most readable titles since Rebirth and it's only gotten better with Sejic's artwork. Love this series.

#4. Written by Chip Zdarsky. Art and Cover by Adam Kubert. This is old fashioned Spider-Man styled fun. Spidey & the Torch go up against Fisk & it ends badly. JJJ is up to his old tricks. Zdarsky manages to balance the action & humor very well. Kubert's cartoony style "fits" in very well with Zdarsky's style of storytelling. After OMD I never thought I would enjoy a Spider-Man title again. It took 10 years but between this title & Renew Your Vows Spidey is on my pull list again. 8/10.

Nightwing #29 this week picks up where the Teen Titans Metal tie-in left off. Pretty good artwork and the same fast pacing of the previous tie-in. I was really diggin' Nightwing's thermal armor as it reminded me of the Infinity Inc version but updated. Plus there's a great splash page of Mr. Freeze and the evil Batman they are fighting in this is super creepy. Unfortunately I have to pick up the next issue of Suicide Squad to read the conclusion (which I dropped within the first few Rebirth issues).

#31. Written by James Bonny. Art by Tyler Kirkham. Cover by Ian Churchill. Another fill in issue. The spotlight is on Lois Lane as she tries to interview Deathstroke. However for a fill in I really enjoyed it. The story & art were good. I liked the spotlight on Lois. Interviewing Deathstroke? That was a cool idea! I wouldn't mind a Lois Lane Special by this creative team. Looking forward to the conclusion. 7/10.

#11. Script & cover by Ryan Stegman. Art by Brian Level. The pieces of Normie's plan against Spider-Man come into focus. The return of the Green Goblin. Only one more issue until the title jumps forward in time to 8 years later & features Annie in high school. This issue was OK. It felt a little like a fill in until the title makes a change in it's focus with #13. 6/10.

I'm not a fan of Deathstroke and the last fill in arc was a turn off for me so I've dropped this for now and probably won't be picking it up again until after the whole Oz debacle is over.

I'll list this one, as I'm pretty sure no-one else will Generations - Captain Marvel & Ms Marvel"
The Generations series is batting 1000 (assuming I've used that term correctly), in the sense that every one of them* has been absolutely dreadful; it's almost become a perverse fascination to see if each one is better or worse than the terrible predecessor. This one doesn't buck the trend - it's awful, albeit maybe not quite as awful as the Captain Marvel/Mar-Vell one.
2/10, and that's generous
(*I think I've read 5 or 6 now, missed a couple)
