Well, there was the time back in the early days of CBR when Peter David informed me that he had a much better grasp of the psychology of the physically handicapped than I did (I had dared suggest that Aquaman's reaction to losing his hand was unrealistic). That was a fun exchange. Cei-U! I open the old wound! Was he aware of your particular circumstances when he said this? Not trying to make excuses, just wondering.

I don't like talking to creators too much: it's almost impossible to avoid coming across as rude and churlish when describing to its writer or its artist what you didn't like about some particular comic; and in the other direction, you often get a kind of unhealthy situation where the fans are lapping up everything the creator says and ganging up on anyone who disagrees. I'm not saying it's always like this but it's so easy for the worst side of these interactions to come to the fore that I find it best to avoid them altogether, even with creators whose work I genuinely admire.
