Whether it's single back issues, the Epic Collections or the Marvel Essentials
How big is your x Men collection.
My collection is fairly big but small enough. I have the Children of the Atom epic collection along with the Essentials volume 2, 4, 5 and 7 then I have single back issue of issue 150, then I have X Men Classics then back to single issues at 205 and at 244, 245 and then the issues 289, 290 up to the 300ish issues here and there.
Those and including my small X Factor stuff

Back in the day, I used to have the Claremont run from about 125-200, but I dumped them all years ago. I do have the Grant Morrison and Josh Whedon runs which are clean of all the million unresolved subplots that dragged the other versions down. Of the original run, I have the Neal Adams /Roy Thomas set of issues.

I've got Masterworks 1-7, and Uncanny Masterworks 1-3, 6 and 8.
I've got some scattered stray bronze age issues - I got the comics from my parents used media store. Less than ten in total. The earliest is 137.
I have every X-men appearance in Team-Up Books up 'till 2010. Marvel Team-Up # 4, 150, Annual # 1, Spider-Man Team-up # 1, and Ultimate Marvel Team-up # 11. I have all the solo X-men appearance up 'till 2000, but I'm definitely missing some after that in original issues. Marvel Age Spider-Man Team-Up # 5 has Storm and their was a Guardians of the Galaxy Team-Up book recently with Nightcrawler.
Fun Fact: Poor Cyclops never appeared solo in a team-up book 'till 2013! (And I'm still debating whether A + X counts as a team-up book for my purposes.)
Jean Grey has almost never, but I'd argue that Spider-Man Family (Second series) counts as a team-up book, and she slips in in the very last issue (# 9) along with Spidey and the Hulk.

A few hundred books if you count spinoffs. I also bought an official complete DVD set of Uncanny that was released in the 2000s, so I have even more of it digitally.

I have original series Uncanny with #94 through 280. Have all the black and white Essential TPB's. Have picked up odds and ends of X-Men with the various reboots but none for more than 4-5 issues. Have most of the X-Factor series and the same for New Mutant's.

X-Men is really the book that got me to read American comics in their original form rather than their translated version (as there was no translation of the X-Men in Canada, unlike France).
Original book: scattered issues from the '60s, like 7, 28 and 29. Issue 28 has three holes on its side, because someone kept it in a 3 ring binder! Giant-zise X-Men #2, then issues 115-310 and annuals 3-15. I'm pretty sure I have all the specials from that era as well (X-Men miniseries, Heroes for Hope and the like). I was an X-Men junkie for a while. I got the omnibus with Cockrum's stories as well.
Adjectiveless X-Men / New X-Men : I quit soon after Claremont did. Issue 19 was my last one. Later I got Grant Morrison's run in trades.
X-Men: children of the atom - the Steve Rude issues.
Whedon's astonishing X-Men : in hardcovers.
AvX : Omnibus.
Bendis's Al-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men : in trades.
There's also a thin trade about Cyclops being in jail following the events from AvX... I can't recall if it was a miniseries or not.

Not counting reprints (of which I have a lot) my collection of the original title currently includes:#16, #18, #23, #25-66, #68, #74, #75, #82, #84, #85, #95-101, #108-119, #122-265, #267-290, #292, #294-297, #300, #318, #319, #322-326, #329, #334, #337, #338, #340, #350, #353, #375, #378-380, #386-544 (last issue). But, that's just the main title. Looking at my excel spreadsheet, there seem to be around three dozen X-Men related titles under 'X' alone (so that's not even counting books like New Mutants and Excalibur).

I've got a motley assortment of reprints and originals that essentially gives me X-Men from issue 1 to the end of Claremont's run. I don't keep good track of what I own post-Claremont.
Silver Age: X-Men #1-53 (reprinted via Marvel Masterworks) X-Men #56-63, 65 (reprinted in the X-Men Visionaries Neal Adams TPB) To fill in the gaps, I bought floppies of #54, 55, 64, and 66. I also have some floppies duplicating issues that I have in HC/TPBs (22, 48, 51). The one think missing is the back-up story in #56, which isn't reprinted in the Neal Adams TPB.
I have 3 reprint versions of Giant-Size X-Men: 1) Marvel Milestone Edition, reprinting the whole issue, including ads 2) X-Men Special Edition #1, reprinting the main story with a new cover and a new back-up story with Kitty and Illyana (from the 1980s) 3) Classic X-Men #1, which omits and replaces several pages
Bronze/Claremont Era (main series): I have #94-280 in one form or another. 1) Classic X-Men's reprinting skipped four issues (106, 110, 141, 142). I have the original of #106. I have #110 in a weird b&w digest size book from Tor that reprints 3 issues and rearranges the layout of the panels. I have 141-142 as the Days of Future Past TPB (which omits the last pages of #142). 2) #168-176 via the From The Ashes TPB. 3) #266, reprinted in a giant-size comic that reprints the respective first appearances of Gambit and Bishop 4) The remaining issues from #94-280 are a mix of Classic X-Men and originals, but I don't have a list. I know the earliest issue covered by Classic that I have as an original instead is #139. Then, I don't have any originals until the 150s. My collection becomes predominantly originals instead of Classic starting after the From the Ashes TPB, but the last issue I have via Classic is #206 (which I believe was the last issue of the reprint series).
Annuals: I think I have all the annuals in the Claremont era via reprints or originals, but I'd have to check.
Minis/one-shots: 1) Wolverine 1-4 (via TPB) 2) Kitty Pryde & Wolverine #1-4 3) Magik #1-4 4) X-Terminators #1-4 5) X-Men/Alpha Flight #1-2, via a square-bound reprint 6) X-Men: Heroes for Hope 7) X-Men vs. Obnoxio the Clown 8) X-Men at the State Fair of Texas 9) Marvel Fanfare #1-4 (via Savage Land TPB) 10) X-Men vs. Fantastic Four #1-4 11) X-Men vs. Avengers #1-4 (via TPB) 12) I know I have the X-Factor issue of Mephisto vs. I'm not sure if I have the X-Men issue of the mini. I'm probably forgetting some other obscure stuff.
I also have most of the X-Factor and New Mutants comics of this era.
