Here's a theme I had in mind for the next time I won - They Might (Not) Be Giants. Post a cover that shows one or more characters enlarged to giant size, usually for symbolic purposes. Rules:- Post one (and only one) classic cover that fits the theme of the contest. -Covers must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before October 2007. -Covers must be posted before voting begins. -Voting takes place Tuesday, Oct 17, beginning at 12:01 am PST and ending at 11:59 pm PST. -Vote by posting in bold the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or whose cover you simply like the best. -The winner of the contest is the poster with the most votes after voting ends. -The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest. -If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it. Please don't post disparaging remarks about it. -If a cover is more recent than the classic time frame, kindly point it out so the poster can chose an alternate before voting begins. -Don't link from comics.org (gcd) or Wikia; the images don't show up here or are too small to do your cover justice. -Photobucket images don't want to play either. Have fun! My example/entry, a cover that confused me a bit at age 6:

on second thought, even tho it's not the 1st one I thought of, this one (62 issues later) embodies how I'm feeling about the world at the moment in the current political climate. . so changing my entry to stick with this one:

There are so many Golden Age Namor covers that fit this topic. I picked this one because I was wondering where he got that mallet.

There are so many Golden Age Namor covers that fit this topic. I picked this one because I was wondering where he got that mallet. There are so many that I have often wondered how readers of the time took that. Did they assume that growing to giant size was one of his abilities, and he just didn't happen to use in the issue they read, other than on the cover? Did they feel cheated because the comic turned out to be about a swimming fish-man, not a giant Nazi-crusher? Or did they get that the covers were symbolic? I'm pretty sure that many readers were confused.

I had a feeling this would be a good topic. I've already seen several great covers that I'd forgotten or never seen before, and I can think of a bunch of good ones that haven't been posted yet.

So-o-o many to choose from. When I have too many choices, I become an "originalist" and try to adhere as closely as possible to the contest-creator's exact criteria. Which is why I'm going with an all-time favorite of mine...

One of my favs from the PPTSS series. hurm. . . never realized how much the re-design look of Vixen seems to have "borrowed" from this cover. (tho the original, and Detroit JLA version of the character didn't look like this)
