Otherwise, it's always a delight to find oneself up an hour before one has to be. This is the 2nd time in recent months that my youngest female cat, Allie, has managed to knock my alarm clock off the bedside stand in such a way as to advance the time by an hour. Ugh. I've heard many a "cats can be annoying/ridiculous" story in my time, but yours always seem to trump the rest

Spent $1700 on Friday for Nathan's flight to and from Europe. Only $950 of that was the actual flight. The rest were various taxes, Customs fees, excise fees, etc.

In the UK until the end of May. If our paths cross, I would gladly buy him a beer.

He'll be mostly in Belgium and Northern France. He does fly in to Heathrow, but it will be July 11. He comes back August 1, I think.

Seems they were patroling the neighborhood and noticed my car's trunk was open with several boxes visible (I was doing computer field service at the time and had spare parts in my trunk). We determined later that my keys with the door unlocker was on the counter and our cat must have stepped on the trunk button. At least he didn't figure out how to drive it.

The trunk button on my remote stopped working not long after I got the car in 2/11. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd have had the same experience at least once by now.

I've heard many a "cats can be annoying/ridiculous" story in my time, but yours always seem to trump the rest Here's a cat story that sums up my relationship with cats. I'm not sure if cats hate me or love me too much - I gather most people wonder the same thing - but absolutely without fail, if I am sitting somewhere and a cat is around, it will jump up on me and walk or stand directly on my crotch. I mean, every single time. Needless to say, this displeases me. So, one day I go over to the home of a friend who is in the process of moving. Turns out, she has no furniture left, so we've just got an empty living room. No couch to sit on, because she had to throw it out when the cat peed all over it (naturally). So I'm thinking, okay, perfect. No danger here. Your plans are thwarted, cat! Just about that time, her cat comes out. Walks over to me. Stands up on its back legs like a human being. And punches me right in the junk. I swear to god. Yeah, so... not a cat fan here.

What was the JLA mini (or maybe just a run in the regular series) a couple years ago that highlighted a failure of each character? I think Wonder Woman tried to save people in a burning building.

Here's a question for you all: what (if any) is your morning internet routine? The current routine is: - work email - the daily newspaper - personal email, which includes several Yahoo Groups - Mark Evanier/newsfromme - engrish.com - boggletheowl.tumblr.com (hasn't been updated in a while but if you've never seen it, check it out) - sinfest.net - my Google Groups - 3 GCD-related groups, another comics-history group, and a work-related group - metafilter.com - notalwaysright.com and its spinoffs - the city-data.com forums - I check the Oregon, Portland, Writing and Religion/Spirituality forums regularly, others when I have nothing else to do - tonyisabella.blogspot.com - Greg Hatcher's column on Mondays - during basketball season, blazersedge.com - and this place and maybe CBR
