I was in a trivia contest once, I think it was at a Gen Con, where each table was a team and the questions came from every Trivial Pursuit set they could find except the standard one. It came down to my table and one other trying to answer questions from the Australian set, and it became apparent pretty quickly that the winner would be a matter of luck, because nobody had a clue about any of those. Winner ended up being the other table when the answer was Evonne Goolagong. That's a deep cut in to my memory banks. And Rod Laver, for the full Aussie tennis connection, of the 70s!

Yes, but did you also include the original Casino Royale from 1967, which is also technically a James Bond film (a full blown spoof), but also very non-canonical to the Eon Productions/Broccoli/Saltzman productions. Also, don't forget the Casino Royale TV movie! (The only reason I know it exists is that it was mentioned in a Starlog article a very long time ago). You mean this one? Technically, it was an episode of the anthology series Climax!, which featured adventure and mystery stories. Bond is made an American, Jimmy Bond, of Combined Intelligence, and Felix Leiter is the Brit. Peter Lorre elevates it, as Le Chiffre. It exorcises the sections outside the casino; but, otherwise (apart from the nationality changes) is pretty faithful. Of course, there is also the South African radio adaptation, in 1958, which can throw the whole who played Bond first, into disarray (Nelson is first, in 1954, then Bob Holmes, in the radio adaptation of Moonraker, before Connery). If you you really want to have fun with people and test how deep their knowledge is, ask them how many times Bond's brother appeared in movies.

I remember watching this for the first time in 1992 when it aired on TV hosted by Leonard Maltin. I've got it on DVD as an extra with the 1967 spoof film. Apparently it was also broadcast live which is probably something we'll never see again with any James Bond film ever!

Beautiful artwork on that Operation Kid Brother poster. Anyone know who the artist is? The style looks familiar so I'm guessing he or she probably did some other movie posters around that era

(the closest I find seems to be a swimsuit designer!) I agree that the art looks good; reminds me of early Chaykin painted work.

It's by Ron Lesser, who also did movie posters for Zardoz and Paint Your Wagon. He also did book cover illustration and did a ton of paperback covers for genre fiction, including John D MacDonald books, Jack Higgins, and JT Edson westerns. He also did magazine and commercial art, including Captain Morgan ads. You can see more of his art at his website, here.......

I'm seeing reports that underground artist Larry Todd, best known for Dr. Atomic, is in hospice care. Along with his underground work, he did some covers and stories for Warren and Skywald, and a few stories in Epic Illustrated for Marvel. I enjoyed his work a lot and hope things go as well as possible for him. His GCD credit list: www.comics.org/credit/name/Larry%20Todd/sort/chrono/(there are some errors in this list - ignore the books edited by Larry Stroman and Todd Johnson)

At about 4:30 am, this morning, I thought the world had exploded. There was a massive BOOM and a flash of lightning and the power blinked off and on. I half expected to see a crater outside, when I went to pick up my lunch, today, based on how close it sounded.
So, if you are anywhere east of Central Illinois, expect some hefty storms to pass through.
My cats juts lifted their heads and meowed, "I'm trying to sleep, here!"

My wife is from Chile and she had a guest bring this soap on their last visit. it supposed to be the best for removing stains from clothing. I'm sure it's copyright infringement It even has the name imprinted on the bar.

Since 1949?? If it is infringement, they've been doing it for a hell of a long time!
With the blue flecks, it looks like a big block of Gorgonzola cheese.

It seems the trademark holders of Popeye are pretty open to licensing for anything and everything, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's legit

I think Popeye's chicken at one point used Popeye as a mascot? Kind of like how Dairy Queen used Dennis The Menace. There's also Popeye's canned spinach
