Maybe some video game therapy is called for. Prescription is to kill 100 zombies and check back in the morning.

Maybe some video game therapy is called for. When I don't want to make the effort to do much, even with entertainment; don't want to read, watch a movie, play a game even, I still find Minecraft relaxing. Whether I build, mine, craft, brew, or enchant, I like doing these simple tasks in the game.

What have you been reading lately ? Seems like you need to shift gears maybe. It's not so much what I'm reading as it is a lack of interest in reading stuff in general. I've certainly been there. I find that when I'm stressed about real life concerns, I often find it hard to commit to and find joy in my hobbies, particularly reading. What I'm trying to do is change the way I view reading. Reading is exercise for your brain, so I try to view it like that. I will say that 99.9% of the time, if I make myself read, I quickly get back into the groove and start enjoying myself and can't believe I neglected it. I just need to work harder at making myself initiate things.

Unfortunately it's all becoming a blur. I can't imagine how it feels to be someone living in France in particular. I remarked to my co-workers last week that I can't remember the last time our flag out front wasn't at half staff.

I'm so sad to read more and more terrorist attacks that's happening in our delicate world that we live in and I'm starting to think that it's getting unsafe for anyone to travel and having said that it's making me to re-think my plans of going to France in 2019 for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. I was in France in 1994 for the 50th.

Two guys who cut the throat of an 83 year old priest. Talk about standing up to the crusaders. What undaunted courage it must take.
I know it's useless to try and reason with fanatics, but don't they stop to think, sometimes? What do they believe their tactic will lead to? They want the west to live in fear? They want to start a war between believers and non-believers? That's going to backfire.
I'd like to believe that we're going to take the higher ground and not let anger replace common sense. I'd like to, but judging from Trump's or Marine LePen's success I know it isn't so. Little by little public opinion is becoming islamophobic, and the possibility of an actual clash of civilization is increasing. At some point the majority will say "enough is enough! It's all those Ay-rabs' fault!"
And then? Then we'll give both the terrorists and the western hawks what they want : we'll bomb the crap out of the Middle East and persecute our moslem citizens here in the west. It'll be a nightmare scenario in which countless innocents will perish. Since by then we'll have closed our borders, the countless victims will almost all be in the Middle east. The west will go on enjoying its comfortable life even as it chants "we're just defending ourselves", and the cynic in me acknowledges that the loss of one cultural group in our midst will barely be noticeable.
As I once heard a Greek torturer say in an interview : "human decency is shared by all but at some point you can be forced to make terrible choices. Imagine the face of a man being trampled in the mud by a jackboot. Your heart naturally goes out to the man, but then you're asked : would you rather be the face or the boot?" -Most people would choose the boot, even if reluctantly.
These terrorists are giving munitions to those who would like nothing better than to shoot them, shoot their families, shoot their dog, and nuke their part of the world. And for what? For nothing! They don't even actually want anything! They just mean to die killing as many innocents as possible! It's a perversion of all that it means to be human.

Just got back from a trip to NYC. Of course, I visited the really important tourist sites, like this one: That's a bag of Archie back issues I'm hiding behind my back. T here's a nice comic shop a few blocks away. Glad you enjoyed your sojourn, Crimebuster! Which comic shop(s) did you visit?

This makes me so mad.
I want revenge. I really do. If I could kill a half dozen of these terrorists bastards and the world would be a little better, I might do it, however, I would not persecute an entire group on the actions of a scant crazy few.
I guess it'll take the world to get pushed enough with this string of inhuman atrocities, and the US, Europe, and our friends in the Middle East, come together to eradicate these maniacal zealots.
These gutless acts of terror on soft targets makes me sick to my stomach.

I think it was Mysterious Time Machine? It was a solid shop. The only thing I didn't like is that nothing is priced, they price it with an Overstreet Guide once you pick the books out. Usually I don't buy from places that do that on principle, but since I was on vacation I let it go, and the guy was nice and cut me a pretty good deal.

Yeah, when you mentioned the proximity to Bleecker Street I was wondering if MTM was the shop you visited. A friend of mine raves about that store, though he seems to buy more old magazines there and comics only occasionally.

I had no idea Rurouni Kenshin was such a fun anime. It can be both serious and silly. I'm on episode 11 right now, and I'm totally hooked on the storyline and characters.

Job hunting is such a hit or miss proposition. Last week, I found 5 good positions to apply for, but this week, there's been nothing.
As well, I got a "you have impressive skills, but we went in another direction" e-mail from a company I applied to in March. I know the hiring process takes a while, but that's seems ridiculous, although I do appreciate the follow-up, even though I'd pretty much forgotten I'd ever applied with that company anyway.
I have a couple of meetings set up for next week to discuss opportunities outside of my professional field. One is to be a health insurance agent, while the other is to be a financial adviser. The former came to me through a friend from church who works for the company; he can't say enough good things about it and he recommended me to them since he knew I was looking. The latter was the result of a recruiter e-mail from the company, as they'd seen my resume online and felt I had the requisite skills to perform the job.
Neither of those were something I was considering 3 months ago, but I've gotten to thinking about being able to have a more flexible schedule, work closer to home (or actually at home, in the case of the health insurance agent), and generally be more of my own boss in regard to making money based on how much effort I put in and not being beholden to company performance.

Wow, sounds like I'd better be prepared for the possibility of a long search. I just put in my first 2 applications in my job hunt today. Both seem like pretty good fits that I'm qualified for, but I guess I'll have to wait and see if they agree with me. For now I'm going to hold on to my optimistic dream of one (or both) of these working out and my job hunt being super short. Here's hoping your search goes well too!
