There are many characters that comic fans dislike. Usually, that dislike stands the test of time. However, there are some cases where those characters that you dislike or hate eventually become more palatable. For me, numero uno is US Agent. Could not stand the character initially, in any incarnation. I thought John Walker was a cheap attempt to increase sales of the Cap book and I was turned off by his abrasive personality. However, it was during his time in the WCA that I started to change my mind. This guy, despite his abrasive ways, loner mentality and arrogance..well, he actually turned out to be a bit of a bad mofo. He was fearless and didn't mind taking on a bunch of villains without any help. He always had that strength of belief, but I found it more appealing as his character develped further. He was a typical anti-hero and I really always like this aspect of a character. So, color me as one of those guys that additionally hated the idea of US Agent to becoming someone who respects the character. Anyone else do an about face on any characters?

Mine would be Inhumans leader Black Bolt and one thing that I didn't like about him (I read Inhumans off and on) that he didn't speak much in the issues that I've read and after awhile - I started to understand this character and has that great costume and all and made me want to read more about this group and I learned to appreciate it more and more as I go along with it.
Black Bolt is an impressive character that grew on me and that's the reason that I find the Inhumans a noteworthy group to explore and the current TV Series did not capture it at all. I was very disappointed in watching the show on my ON DEMAND cable system and the Black Bolt in that series wasn't good at all. I grew very fond of this character and starting to enjoy the Inhumans more and more ... Liked Crystal, Lockjaw, Medusa, Karnak, and eventually the rest of the group over time.
masterofquackfu ... great subject matter.

Wasn't a huge fan of Damian when he first appeared but over the years I've come to really like him. Even to the point of him being one of my current fave characters

I knew Damien would appear here. Wasn't sure I'd like these guys but thought I'd give em a try. This was from Valiant 2.0, the Acclaim years. Eric (Quantum) is an African-American who's very straight-laced and disciplined. His father was a scientist who was working on an energy project when he died. Woody is Caucasian and a goof; not disciplined, and lives in the moment. He was adopted by the Henderson's. When Mr. Henderson died, the boys got into a fight at the funeral. The cops came and put them in jail. There they resolved to find out what happened to their father. They went to his laboratory to investigate. It blows up and they have energy powers of blasts and shields but have to clang these wristbands together every 24 hours or they dissipate. They later come across a goat that was also experimented on which Woody nicknames Vincent Van Goat. The goat, in fact, has their father's memories and personality as the father was working on an experiment on how to back up brains and personality in later life, like to fight dementia or Alzheimer's. VVG has heat vision, flight, and super strength, and has tried to communicate to the boys that he's their father, put they haven't picked up on it yet. Kind of silly but fun and soon to be a tv show.
