All slots on the periodic table have been filled, and the results are:
With a gold medal performance, first place goes to bert, with 5 votes. And silver goes to Icctrombone, with 4 votes. Just behind the lead is james, with 3 votes. A not at all tinny performance from Avatar Man, pinkfloydsound17, Farrar, and foxley; who scored 2 votes each. And elements of success were achieved by berkley, outsider, Prince Hal, Jesse, MW Gallager, and Crimebuster; who scored 1 vote apiece.

not sure how I got to this one 1st, but yay! I had this first and I should've gone with this one and I just remembered the Metamorpho Cover of where he is standing on a complete Periodic Table and went with that. Always goes with your first instinct and I'm a Metal Men fan and I've made a big mistake for not keeping it. Well done bert and you deserved this win. Congratulations!

thanks everyone! will have new contest up in the next couple of hours (stuck in a work meeting right now). AM - as mentioned in IM, I'm a HUGE Metal Men fan (to the point that I have had the logos tattooed on my arm for over 25 years) that's why I was shocked this cover was still avail, when I entered the contest this week.

This is one of the very few Adams Legion/Adventure covers that I liked back in the Silver Age. I usually found his SA superhero covers much too overwrought and over-the-top, but that approach really suited this particular scenario. The only "flaw" I see here is the inclusion of a character who shouldn't be in this scene (I won't spoil the story details for those who may want to be surprised), but I imagine this cover was created prior to the fleshing out of the Shooter story and/or the completion of the interior Swan art. Anyway, an eye-catching cover then as now IMO.

Anyway, an eye-catching cover then as now IMO. I'll have to reread that story to see who shouldn't be there. I know what you mean about Adams' covers. Overly dramatic at times, histrionic, even, if that word can apply to artwork, which interfered with and detracted from the storytelling that a good cover should do. Too much weeping. For instance...
