There’s even a video: I have all the nostalgic feels with the costume and that music.

This is just another reason why Marvel is dead to me

Marvel tends to get me on stuff like this.
Pairing the classic cartoon theme song with the costume she was wearing when I loved X-Men comics and I’m excited for this.
In reality though, I will buy a few issues and eventually be disappointed.

Tom Taylor and Travis Charest (even if it's only covers) is a big draw for me, so I'll give it a shot.

They've got good talent on it at least

They are slowly revealing the line-up so far (with the usual shadows of characters getting filled in): So far it's Jean, Nightcrawler, Namor, Gentle and Gaby (Laura's 'sister'). One of the shadows is obviously Wolverine (Laura), which makes sense with Tom Taylor writing, the other has a long braid, so .. Dani Moonstar? (update: Nope, it's a new character named Trinary)
Would quite like that line-up.

I realize I am old when a nostalgia-driven project evokes a period set after I stopped reading the X-Men.
Old, I tell you! Ooooooooold!

There was a time when I would have been all giddy about this, because I was a total X-Men fanboy. Unfortunately for Marvel, that time has long-since passed, and this elicits nothing more than a shoulder-shrug and a "meh" from me, as the X-Men have been dead to me for years now.

I wonder if that means Nightcrawler won't be in Gold anymore? Maybe they're going to do some sort of love triangle (since he's dating Rachel atm).
I've never understood why people don't want Jean Grey back.... by definition of being the PHOENIX, she is the only one in the darn MU that should come back from the dead.

I've never understood why people don't want Jean Grey back.... by definition of being the PHOENIX, she is the only one in the darn MU that should come back from the dead. Thematically, repeatedly bringing back a character called Phoenix makes perfect sense. The question is what to do with her. Powerwise, she's problematic on a team with, say, Nightcrawler and Angel, because it's hard to come up with various challenges to which they can contribute in her presence. You can solve that problem by dialing her down to Jean's Marvel Girl power set, but then she's no longer Phoenix, so the resurrecting doesn't make sense any more. Personalitywise, she doesn't have a strong hook. She's just generic capable woman, so again writing her interestingly is difficult. Does she have any hobbies or interests? (No, not her short lived modeling career.) Comics are most interesting not when guys in tights hit each other, but when their values clash, creating story. What are her values? She's just a holdover from the Silver Age, when "girl" was deemed an adequate description for a heroine.

The first time she was brought back was an absolute disaster and turned her deaths and returns into a running joke. Can't say I see any point in repeating what was a mistake 30 years ago. If they had brought Jean back the first time without ruining the Dark Phoenix Saga and without ruining the character of Cyclops maybe I wouldn't mind her being brought back yet again.
