I do admit that when I'm working on a run, sometimes I feel like it's a goal I need to accomplish so I forget to slow down and enjoy the books... This has been a problem for me, as well, and when I start to feel it happening, I stop reading and put the run aside until it sounds like something fun that I want to do again. It's why you haven't seen me updating any review threads for the past few weeks Excellent policy. I think my "To Read" list is about 800 comics strong at this point. To be completely truthful, while the short box thing has been helpful in keeping my acquisitions from getting out of hand, but I do fudge it a little bit. Digital purchases don't count, since they can't be put in a box , so I have a long list of digital books that I need to get through on my next vacation. I also don't file unread trades in the short box, so I have a stack of those as well that I need to get through. That said, I'm pretty sure that I'm under the equivalent of 800 single issues in my reading queue. On the topic of runs that I'm slowing down on... currently working on the Larry Hama run of the first volume of Wolverine. I recently acquired a run of the first 70 or so issues of the Wolverine solo series thanks to a friend who gave me a bunch of comics that he needed to get rid of. It started off pretty well... I enjoyed the Claremont/Buscema issues that took place in Madripoor, as well as a few done-in-one issues in the 20s, but it started to go downhill for me when they started delving into the Weapon X project and filling in Logan's backstory. I have about six issues left, so the end is near, but my pace has definitely slowed.

However the mood strikes me, I say with a stack of comics at hand.. Sometimes I read an arc and sometimes a run. Sometimes I sample a random issue or three. Sometimes I read in the recliner in my comic room, sometimes in the living room, sometimes at my desk or drawing board in the studio and sometimes even in the car.
Sometimes at night, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon even.
Sometimes in bunches and sometimes just one. Sometimes in trade, sometimes as floppies, and sometimes though rarely as a digital file.
Sometimes new stuff on the day it comes out, sometimes weeks later, sometimes a back issue on the day it comes home and sometimes when it is grouped with a set of others. Sometimes while drinking pop others times it may be coffee. Sometimes while listening to music and other times while watching a game in the background.
Sometimes quietly to myself, sometimes out loud to share a line or scene with my wife, sometimes even to get a sense of how the dialogue flows. Sometimes slowly lingering on the art, dallying from panel to panel to ooh and aah, sometimes quickly because I can't wait to find out what happens next.
This is how I read comics, I say, it's my way not yours, but please take no offense, there's no right way to read comics good sir, nor wrong way I say, read the way that brings joy and a smile, follow your bliss and never an issue miss!

No more buying new ones until you get those 800 read first mister. Heheh. Fortunately, I buy very little these days, but I do still have runs in my collection that I bought over ten years ago and still haven't read yet.

I have a finished half-attic where I keep all my books, as well as a couch for reading. I tried to bring a comfy chair up to my attic but it didn't fit through the door.

I read a bunch of stuff at once. Right now I'm reading the first Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four omnibus, the first Claremont/Byrne Uncanny ominbus, Stern's Avengers (skipped Trial of Yellowjacket), Kirby's Fourth World, the new Black Widow (names escape me), and Martian Manhunter. I'd say the majority of my reading is done at night, in bed, but I also read during the day on the couch/in a recliner. I also read in the tub, but usually that's just Back Issue.

I usually let my new comics pile up for 3 or 4 (or more) months, while I read back issues, either in actual floppies I've recently acquired or favorite runs from the DVDs loaded to my computer, then I read the new comics in runs by series (cuts down on the decompressed feel). Usually my comic reading is during lunch at work, because I'm either too busy at home or watching TV at night. I don't wait until I have full runs, because I just don't have the patience since it could take years for me to complete an older series.

I have a finished half-attic where I keep all my books, as well as a couch for reading. I'd love to get to a point where I just pull random issues to read (and, occasionally, I do), but I'm so anal about collecting and reading full runs that I literally have six different stacks of "To Read" books right now, each centered around a specific character, creative run, or theme. I need help. Same here, though my attic is more like 1/3 finished (no heat/ac) so I often grab a few to read, then actually read them in bed or on the couch or floor in the living room. My 'to read' area (not really a pile) has a couple piles for big runs (right now, Starman and LSH), a short box for short runs, and a milk crate for random issues. Then there's a small pile of current stuff that are either minis I'm waiting for to complete before I read or stuff I ordered and decided I wasn't that interested in. Over on the book shelf is the trades to read, then a separate pile for Masterworks/Showcase/omnibuses that I usually don't read all at once. I usually have new stuff on the buffet in the living room until I read it, then it either goes on my daughter's to read shelf or in the 'read but not filed' box in the attic. It's really not complicated, but it sure is complicated to explain!

Excellent policy. I think my "To Read" list is about 800 comics strong at this point. Yeah, I was up to 1200 or so at one point (not that I counted) in the spring after a bunch of good purchases, so I haven't really hunted for anything since to catch up... I've probably read about 1/2 of those, which is nice, since when I travel for work in October I'll (hopefully) find a shop or two to check out.

I mostly read on my bed. Monday through Thursday I'll generally read in the evening, and on weekends just whenever I have time and feel like it. Typically I'll read for about half an hour at a time, which can be anywhere from 1 to 4 books. New books, which I buy every other weekend, get priority, then the back issues. Alas, I do relatively little re-reading because I have so many unread books. Like others here, I'm trying to cut down on my buying a bit until I catch up a bit more on reading, and I am making some progress. Still, if I see a decent deal on a book I need/want, it can be hard to say no.
I don't take my floppies out of the house for reading, but do take out trades for reading on the go. I've got quite a few unread trades and hardcovers too. *sigh*

I used to take trades, but that's gotten less recently. If I know the place I'm going has a LCS or book store, I figure I'll find something I want and just read that. Plus, with Unlimited I can just read Marvel stuff on my phone.

I just go through the boxes and read in the order of that particular box, or skip what I'm not interested in. How many I read at once just depends on how much time/energy I have. I try to only pull out 5 or 6 at a time and finish those before I get more. I mostly read sitting on my bed but sometimes take them into the living room. Sometimes on the potty.

I prefer to read them in small bursts of about 100 pages or so, then switch to something else. I read them however I get them though

How do I read comics? Sometimes I like to have a neat little stack and then read one comic after another while atop my bed. Other times I will have a huge stack of comics that I might just have purchased, so I will go through every comic cover to cover, checking for any defects, and looking over the quality of the storyline and art contained within, decide whether its worthy of a closer look, and then place it in another stack to read later. I sometimes read during the day, other times its at night.
