To add to the thread of my own.  That's...repulsive. I am currently reading Terry Moore's (of Strangers in Paradise, Rachel Rising, Echo and Motor Girl fame) art book, How to Draw, and the first part is entitled How to Draw Woman; not so much a how to chapter but an essay on his philosophical underpinnings of his approach to drawing woman. This reminds me of a couple of his comments about how comics get drawing woman wrong, especially super-hero comics. Comment one was along the lines of the biggest mistake comics artists make trying to draw women is they draw a male form and add breasts because they don't understand the fundamental physical differences in the skeletal and muscle structure of men and women, especially the hips and the spine. Comment two, drawing breasts is not an excuse for the artist to break out his circle template as that's not how breasts work or look like. This cover could have been the poster child of what's wrong with how women are drawn in comics according to Terry Moore. -M |

And really impractical. Pretty sure I, an overweight, out of shape, 38 year old, could take her down by slowly jogging away. Which would do her in first? Even if she can run in heels, she's got hair flapping in her face, boobs flopping in her face, and a shirt coming undone while she attempts to run in tight jeans. Running in heels and tight jeans is easy...just so you know. |
