The idea that Kirby's Superman faces violate a trademark agreement sounds like some pretty lame sophistry to me. It's very easy for the people at DC who made the decisions regarding Kirby's Superman faces to come up with some supposedly legitimate-sounding rationale for it, but I don't buy it for a second. Has there ever been a case where anyone was sued because a popular character looked different when another artist took over? I didn't even know about the assertion that Infantino was gloating about forcing the Superman heads to be redrawn. I see no reason at all to disbelieve it. |

As for the comparison to Marvel, I don't think they should have changed those either. But as far as I know, at Marvel, they only changed the covers. Which seems a little more reasonable. Is there a single issue where, for example, Stan Lee had John Romita go through a whole issue and re-draw every Captain Marvel face?
